Thanks, Nektarios. But, I think you're going too, far with that compliment. Maybe just my own museum.
Words to live by are, "Don't get too, close to the models." There are flaws, for sure.

Carl there will be always flaws in a 1/700 scale model for sure. It is impossible not to find if you try to but what counts is the general impression that you get from a model and seeing yours makes one say that it is a very well built one.

You guys don't know how fast such compliments can go right to my head and make it too, big for my shoulders.

The bottom line is that I am very, glad that you guys like my model(s). That's why we post, here, isn't it? I'm more of a "copy cat" because I just try to make my models look like the ones that I continue to admire here on MWS.

I have seen some models posted on MWS that just make me say, "Oh My!" and then I'm speachless after that. Some even provoke undescribable emotions, at times.

In some model and diorama builds, I can get a sense of the modeler's passion for the subject. I really admire that. A "vision come true" is more important than any lack of perfection that may exist in the build.

Carl, that is the thing about MWS, It Provides the Encouragement and builds that Passion to Improve and go a little further than the build before, also we are backed by Superb guys that provide us with Excellent models and aftermarket bits and pieces, Tom@Jag, Mark at Starfighter, WEM, Loren Perry, TOMS, Jon W at ISW and Mike C at Corsair Armada are but a few, backed by some great vendors make this hobby better than it has ever been, but none of this would be as much fun without the Great Guys on this board.

Wow going over this thread and what great models! Nice job all. I agree what a great addition the deck tractors will be. Sign me up for some. I have still been working on my LPD 4 USS Austin. Here are some pics. After this is done I will be working on either CGN25 or CGN36-37.

Thanks John, I do agree that this board and its supporters help drive us. It is a great place to share projects and find other build to inspire us. Lately I have been so busy with work that when I get a chance I browse the site then I am ready to start.

Thanks, Nektarios. I took your advice on my LaSalle and added a H-3 to the flight deck. Cannot wait to see what you do with JAG's newest creation. Carl's is awesome and just the right inspiration to start my CGN36 and CGN25.

Just for a little randomness, and because in general I had conceived it in the start as maritime strike, I'll share a picture of the latest creation born of the eye of my twisted mind. Warning, shades might be necessary for this:



It's a modified F-15E, with Saturn AL-31 engines (not pictured yet), Flanker wings, and an impromptu extended nose - I lost the nosecone somewhere, and had to improvise something to cap the nose. Intakes are not, in this picture, fitted in place, so the nose looks longer than it should - the intake lip runs up between the two seats.

Quite interesting camo Simon. It reminds me of some unusual schemes seen in Russian and JMSDF aggressor units

I wish I saw that picture before I glued on the the other helos. That is a great picture showing the decks as busy as they can be. I still have a few more LPDs to go LPD 13,14,15. Maybe I can adapt this to one of them. Into the archives it goes. I also need to restock my helo's before then.

Thankyou, Nektarios - I'd intended it as a splinter effect, but I wanted to improve on the disruptive effect by adding shading into the mix. I'd envisioned it for a maritime strike and general ground attack style camoflage, granted up close it just looks absolutely riotous, but I think on a backdrop it might be rather disruptive in effect. I just kinda let my mind go nuts on it.

That looks awesome, John! Everytime I see a newly completed model of yours, I go back to your Gallery and I look and learn while hanging out there for a while.

I love it! It makes me impatient to get to that genre of my 1/700 USN Post WWII One of Each Class collection. I'm still working on DD, DE, FF, and Cruisers. Gator Freighters will come after the surface combatant ships, for sure. It looks like you've started with the Amphibs and Auxiliaries, first.

Carl, no it isn't in use by anybody - it's a combination of splinter and dazzle patterns that I did entirely freehand, and entirely on my own direction - a combination of Swedish Splinter and Angolan Three-green patterns for inspiration, I wanted a design that against green or blue backdrops would disrupt the outline of the aircraft - that, and let's face it, for the most part, in a world where most fights are waged against a speck in the sky, we could use a little colour on our own side, for a little morale if nothing else.

You are right I did start with the Amphibs. There is so much action on one, each ship can be its own diorama. My goal is to complete the ships from Norfolk and Little Creek. I have a couple of ships that do not fit in this catagory, but I am ok with it.

My intent for the CGN 36 was to make it the South Carolina, but I cannot bring myself to sand off the deck housing in front of the main structure. Therefore it will be the California, and when I get a CGN 9 that will also be out of the catagory.

I have been admiring your work on the USS Josephus Daniels, a great inspiration.

After the California I might be back into the Amphibs working on the LHD 3 that will be arriving soon. This will finish the LHDs for me.
