I was aboard the USS Hazard museum, today. It was open, temporarily, for visitors. I took about 180 photos of the exterior, everywhere but atop the pilot. The hatches above the ladders leading to the pilot house were locked up.EPinniger wrote:Your Admirable-class looks very good - I'm looking forward to seeing more of this build! The paintwork on the hull is very nice. I don't think I'd dare run a R/C model that far away from shore without a watertight deck in place though - I hope there wasn't too much wake from that Gearing-class DD![]()
Also, many thanks to NukeMM for posting the link to his photos - maybe now I can get back to work on my half-finished 1/96 USS Hazard (shelved due to lack of reference material!)
(I could still do with some photos of the bridge area - unfortunately as the ship is now closed to museum visitors it doesn't seem like there's much chance of finding any!)
See my photobucket.com album for the newest snapshots.

There was a model of the USS Superior AM-311 on the USS Hazard, in one of the compartments near the bridge. I'm only guessing, but I'd say that it was the Lindberg kit. I couldn't get really close because of the cage infront of the compartment's door, but here are some shot of it through the model's class case.

Yep, that's the Lindberg kit. It takes a lot of work to correct it. I know, I've been working on one for too long.
Any ship larger than a Destroyer is a waste of metal.

Hi Reid Looking superb with the camouflage now in place . The fact that you had to re-do the lot is a hard one to crack but as you say the photos do the talking

Re: 1/48 scale Admirable Class Minesweeper
thanks dave.... redoing the paint took me 2 days to take it all down... and then 2 more to paint (had to let paint set for 24hrs) but it was well worth it... i added new weld lines... and corrected some errors in my old paint job

Freedom Park is open to walk around in during the day now. Scheduled tours are on the 2nd Saturday of each month and we hope within the next few weeks to expand that schedule. At any time, someone wanting a tour can contact me at sub_ssn589@yahoo.com or call 402-444-5955 and ask to have a tour set up. Give us a few days notice and we'll meet you down there.
I also will be glad to take pictures of specific areas that you might need. I'll be there this coming Saturday, the 13th and will be taking some close up pictures of the guns on the Hazard for a guy down in Kansas. Saw someone wanted some pictures of the bridge. Let me know what parts and so forth and I'll take them.
There is a facebook page for Freedom Park at http://facebook.com/FREEDOMPARK that has a couple of albums of pictures of the Hazard. I'll be adding more to those albums.
So any particular pictures someone might want, just let me know.
Please sign in as a fan when going to the facebook site. This helps us with numbers when applying for grants.
Also, of course anyone wanting to is very welcome to become a volunteer at the park. Just drop me a note and I'll get you the information.
thanks,

Re: 1/48 scale Admirable Class Minesweeper
Guys, I got a bunch of shots of the bridge topside and also the steering room inside the glass windows. Just got back in town, so will put the pictures on my computer, then I'll put them up on facebook later tonight or tomorrow; then you guys can tell me which you want, so I don't sent too many. I also took a bunch of the guns and close up so you could see the details of the controls and parts of the guns. I'll also put them up and if you need any of that let me know. I know nothing about modeling so don't know what you have available as for plans, but I brought home with me some of the general plans and also some of the books on maintaining the guns which have dimensions listed.
One question, got a message from NukeMM, but couldn't find a reply button on the message page. Can someone tell me how to reply so the previous message is shown.
Thanks,
Bill
