casting liferaft canisters in 1/350 scale ?
Hello all. Since I am not to familiar with casting my own parts I need a little help on casting the liferaft canister for Tamiyas 1/350 scale Big "E". The seam lines on a lot of the kit supplied canisters are over lapping and when they get sanded down there is a flat spot. Once painted they are not to pleasing to look at especially if you are using the PE brackets from Tom's Models. So would anyone know where I can get them in resin or could somebody make a mold for a modest price? Thanks in advance for any and all help.

White Ensign Models has 1:350canisters

Order direct from them and you should have them in a week. No seams on the ones I ordered, just the stubb on the end, which you cut off and then clean up by pressing part into sanding film that is placed on a thick mouse pad and rotate.

Sealord,
David,
Here are canisters on the Kidd in 1990. Starboard side.

And on the Scott in 1994. Port side.

Hi all
For 1/350 scale, I saw that a manufacturer had made turned brass liferaft canisters for the OHP. It doesn't come with enough for an aircraft carrier (not even close) but wouldn't that be nice to have made for a carrier? Wonder how much it would cost though?

Actual life raft cantainers are 27" in diameter and 56" long. The ends are rounded. There are several types of racks to hold them in place aboard a ship, on a deck or on a bulkhead.
You need to refer to Chapter 5 of NAVEDTRA 14343, which is available as a .pdf online.

You can see the canisters at:

But they need trimming, or

As to where they are located, how about on the superstructure just forward of the boat deck.
