Looking great and enjoying watching the progress. Question on the turret alignment. The holes as stated are out of position however, what is the actual center of rotation for the turret? Is it possible that the turret sits back on base? Just a thought and presenting a possibility.

As you can see, there is no guidance on how these things should go.... however looking at one of the images supplied



It can just be made out (I think) that the base fits as such



Its relationship to the base that it rotates upon is still unclear and I will have to determine its centre of rotation by searching for images with the turret partially rotated. I cannot trust the drilled hole for sure!

Other than that, little progress due to the weather and social commitments

The main deck is the colour I am going to have it finally, the structure will be the colour of the aft section currently. This is the colour scheme I will be aiming for



Fitted the last piece of the upper deck. A last bit of filler on some minor points on the upper deck, hopefully this will be the last work there (other than on the deck part just fitted). Some more filling on the lower deck, this will need sanding and then any last minor remaining points resolving. Hopefully........

he just keeps coming doesn't he! Great job and progress again. I think I have the base of the gun the other way around... Great to see your progress, perhaps I should have made some more parts myself too. That octogonal thing was provided cast in resin in my kit, yet the quality wasn't quite 100% nor was the fit with the deck. Anyway I used it, I think I even glued it before I left, although I'm not sure of that.

Motivation has been the hard part recently.....

Little or no motivation due to the unusually cold weather here! Starting to warm up so did a little today. Sanded down and almost there, one or two points to touch up but not a great deal to do....

Added a coat of priming paint all over



Forecast is good, daughter is back to school tomorrow.... all bodes well!! ;D

Hi Guys

Looked at the hull today. Really wasn't happy with how the primer had taken. Could have been the cold, the damp, or just that its Chinese cr$p primer, but not happy with it.

Sooooooo..... sanded down the whole hull completely.

Applied the hull red onto the keel (thought I would try without the primer as it was useless and the hull was so rubbed down now!). Seems to have applied a whole heap better!!!

Thats when things started going wrong big style!

So I didn't make the house dusty, I did my sanding on the balcony. I hasten to add this was before her indoors had been out there, and was quite early.

Anyhow, she hung some washing out to dry (knowing I was sanding at the time), and then a little while later went into motormouth mode because funnily enough some dust had got on some of the clothes! Also, all it did was antagonise her when I asked why when she saw me sanding, she hadn't used the dryer instead? Or wait until I finished sanding!!!!

Anyhow I cannot stand whinging, whining women!

So, once the hull was dry, she went



She will now stay there until I have a place of my own that I can do her without getting my ears bled! Its either that or telling her to shut the **** up and to stop bending my ear!

I suppose I will ship her to the UK next time I go, and will finish her there (the boat, not her indoors!)!

Consequently, it is quite possible / probable that there will be no further update for some considerable time..... apologies......

Hi Steve sorry to hear of your domestic set backs. My wife has no interest in ship modelling but long ago we formed a packed.The space indoors is hers , the space out of doors {shed} is mine It works wonderfully and has done for 42years .

Sounds ideal!

Unfortunately in China we live in an apartment on the 10th floor so all I have is the balcony and my office. I do keep the area I work clean (or at least clean up after I finish for the day) but she just went into gob-wobble mode yesterday.

However the place we have just got in the UK has a garage and so I will be able to build unmoaned at there!! Down side of that is not only when we are going to be there next, but when I can get everything shipped to BE there!!!!

There is no doubt that the ARK stuffing tubes are FAR superior to those installed in the Tian Jie kits!!! There's just NO comparison!! I will pull out my build from her box tomorrow if I get chance and try and get the measurements you need!

Andrey, if you are interested I shave a couple spare stuffing tubes like these. Don't have a shaft for these though. I also have spare A frames to hold the shaft.

Hmm, I'm at sea at the moment. Will be home in about a month, Steve can you measure the diameter and length of your?
They are the exact tubes you see in Steve's post. They do have a small lube oil tube on them too.
Mine do have a slightly inward tapered (conical) end towards the aft.
Apparently ARK is still changing its product from time to time.
