Re: Calling All Japanese Pre-war/wartime Merchant Marine Fan
Those are great pix and thx for posting.
Speaking of which, in response to a thread on the j-ships board regarding Itsukushima Maru, Ron and Eric posted a # of photos of the Kawasaki type tankers. I'll post them here. Descriptions (and credit if available) in the photo label.

Hi all. I've completed an English index for Motoyki Iwashige's "A Visual Guide of Japanese Wartime Merchant Marine" for those unable to read Japanese. It only references names, pictures and plans. I will try to attach it to this posting, or I can email an Excel file to those who are interested.

A photo of the tanker Rikko Maru (9181grt) on the cover of the Japanese magazine Sea and Sky, circa 1939, posted on the J-ships board by Eric. Great shot, not familiar with this tanker, though.

Thanks for sharing- I had thought the fine bow lines on the Fujumi tankers were inaccurate, but these look like the kit bows.

Off-line, Motoyukisan has ID'd this ship as Kumagawa Maru. Anyone know if there are sister ships? He has also provided another set of photos of Rikko Maru from the same 1939 issue of Sea and Sky
