Shackleton's Endurance Plans?

Post by creading »

Does anyone have information as to where I might find plans or line drawings for Shackleton's ship, Endurance?

The National Maritime Museum, Greenwich, has staged exhibitions in the past on Shackleton and the South Pole. I would start by contacting them - but they're not cheap!

Rick,
Thanks for the advice. I have fired off an email and await the results. Unfortunately, with the rate exchange and the weak US Dollar, nothing is inexpensive when it comes from Britain any longer! Just have to wait and see if it's way out of my league.
Thanks again,
Charles

Depends how detailed you want them... The paperback book Mrs Chippy's Last Expedition 1914-1915 by Caroline Alexander feature a nice copy of the origianl plans for 'Polaris', obvioulsy minor tweaks need to be made to the superstructure to match the endurance.

Thanks Paul. Just goes to show if you wait long enough someone can always provide an answer. Looks like I will resurrect my 'Endurance' ideas

Cheers,
Charles
