I did not completely finish my Mogami
viewtopic.php?f=59&t=48997&start=140
but I need a change now. Therefore I will work on Kongo and Mogami simultaneous.
The Fujimi Kongo is my first model in scale 1/700.
During this build I want to compare Veteran Models Ultimate Detail Set with the Flyhawk Super Detail Set.
Here the first turrets before painting. Flyhawk parts are good but Veteran parts a little bit better here. Therefore I used only Veteran parts for the turrets. Of course, the resin parts from Veterans are superb and without competition. I improved the plastic blast bags with a little bit of Teflon tape.
Turrets after air brushing (and paint brushing of the blast bags):

Thanks John!
I started with the pagoda and added two triple AA guns from the Veterans set.
Using the Fine Molds AA guns would be quicker but the Veterans AA guns are better. To accentuate the details I employed a washing to the turrets. The Veteran set is the best set I ever saw and I fear it will make me addicted.

Thank you, Dan!
The pagoda needs some planning, especially for painting. There are a lot of platforms covered with linoleum.
I wanted an open hatch for the main gun fire control. I used a saw to open the plastic part (Kongo011(a,b)).
After grinding with the Proxxon (Kongo012(c)) I cut 3 frames of 1/700 doors into U-shapes, gave them the appropriate curvature and glued them to the part (Kongo012(d)). I bended 2 segments of brass sprue and glued them into place by hiding all bases of the Us (Kongo012(e)). In the Veterans kit there are four type 13 gun fire controls include and it would fit in here. But maybe a waste of such a nice resin part because it will be barely visible.
