1/700 port holes and windows

Hello guys,
I'm starting a new 1/700 build, the Excel LNG carrier again, as a test model to see if the hull shape is more or less ok before I start building her in 1/200.
Now I started with the accomodation, as the styrene I have left is not enough to really start the hull, and I got to the question of the port holes/windows in the accomodation.
Any idea how I can do this? The windows are rectangular and hence not easy to cut at this size...
Does anyone have experience in doing this?

how big will they be in 200 scale because if know somebody with a mortice machine for wood working, the bit is in 2 pieces, a regular drill bit inside a square cutting bit. smallest bit is about 1/4" square

1/4" square is about right for 1/48 scale 1/4" to the foot, so you are talking about 2mm in 1/200 scale.

How about taking a piece of square brass tubing of the proper size and beveling the inside edge with a blade or needle file to make a chisel or punch? At worst you could heat it and press it into the styrene. Just test it out on scrape first

yeah something around 1-1.5mm high and 1mm beam...
Maybe punch a needle through and then try to carve that hole with the scalpel?
Or just carve the shape into it and then try to remove the top layers within that area? I don't really want them to be fully opened, I can paint them black/blue-ish if they're not opened, shouldn't make that much of a difference at this size.

HI ! I would recommend that is you don,t want to carve the holes out do this. Go to your closest architectural and drafting supply store.They have scads of dry transfer shapes and windows as well as doors and even wall vents and other things you can use. commodore4
