Hmmm,, too bad you don't get the smaller guns than the 6". Those are the ones where a nice metal barrel and proportionally thin shields would improve appearance most significantly.

Agreed. In lieu, I've been painting the rear of those shields black.

Something else to ponder:

Hasegawa molds the port side of the steam launches (the big ones) with only portholes on the bow structure, but none on the central structure. On the starboard side, however, they do mold 4 portholes on the central structure. Is this correct? Or should there actually be portholes on both sides of the central structure?

That's a designing error Timmy. Portholes should be in the same positions on both sides.

Whilst not Mikasa, may I take the liberty of refering you to my model of Canopus in 1/96 scale in Victorian colours at http://www.warshipmodelsunderway.com gallery 29. This is what they look like in big scale.
Enjoy

I know that this model isn't aimed at modelling community but it looks quite crude for the price asked. But hey, maybe over 300 bucks is not too much for an executive toy?

I agree with Dan here - while it's better than many of the other pre-made models out there, the painting is monotonous and uninspiring, ladders are solid when they could've used PE like the railing, and there is the distinct lack of rigging (why have some of it but not all?).

100% accurate Atma? There is no such thing in modelling world but, just at the first glance, model appear to show Mikasa in Tsushima fit but 3inch guns are shielded? And what has happened to the chart-house on the secondary bridge?

Well of course there is no 100% accuate in the modeling world. My only problem with Aoshima's Mikasa is the paint work.

Cause from a first look the Aoshima's Mikasa looks 100% accurate and from the 4 pictures in Hobby Link Japan seems to be accurate.

Why would most of us here want one? I think most of us are builders and take little joy in merely owning a completed model without having gone through the building process.
