Some further encouragement.
A second Yamato under construction here in Australia, photographed at the Task Force 72 annual regatta.
Obviously not yet finished but out on the water.

Hello Dave,
The weather was unseasonably wet unfortunately, however much high quality sailing was possible, with some great images gained.
This shot emphasises her vast bulk

Heading out to sea

Returning to her wharf

A number of photos will be turning up in specific threads on site.
Cheers

Hi Unicorn - very nice
I really wanted to go -was doing Church stuff though.
here is something I bet lots of you have experienced.
I have finally saved enough money -I think -for the Radio control and stuff.
Money sitting , burning hole in pocket.
The Hobby shop I use is closed! -for stocktake!
So -now its a race -do i get to buy the R/c? or something"more important" crops up around the house -and the money disa pears...........LOL

I would heartily recommend the Hobbyking 2.4 Ghz radio, it means never having to share frequencies again.
Best part is they are roughly US$45 from the Hobbyking site.
They are now very common in Task Force 72 as we bring them in for members.

Hi Mike once again great photos , especially those of Yamato . It seems 2.4Ghz has well and truly taken over from 40 meg . I think i'm one of the few still clinging to his vintage F14 40 meg , but it still works and does the job and is expandable . I can even sail now knowing every one else is on 2.4. What I find remarkable is the price of many of the 4channel 2.4s , although Futaba are still high $.

Re: 1/72 Yamato - or a steep learning curve!
looks great I am just designing my 1/72 scale cause I couldn't find any good plans. seems in the ship modeling world what they call plans are nothing more than a profile and a few stations so I am designing my own. I am brand new to ships but been doing planes for 35 yrs and never been into electrics so I been trying to figure out which motors to get. thankfully your project will answer many of the questions I had regarding hardware.
I have a few things to try and figure out with this delftship program as I am just learnign it but I got most of it finished then will be bringing it into solidworks for designing my plans.

Hi Joe,
the stern of your YAMATO is wrong in terms of shape - have you already noticed it?
I hope some YAMATOmaniacs can help you with some details!

Re: 1/72 Yamato - or a steep learning curve!
yea I know its Delftship causing probs I am abt to redo it again lol but I am learning. I am just too anal to do it on the cheap using just the station drawings because I worry I will get a wavy hull due to most the time they are done by artists not draftsmen.
I been trying to find a delftship guru to help me but so far only get 1 or 2 guys to tell me roughly where I screwed up but not how to fix it so it is a slow learning curve.

Re: 1/72 Yamato - or a steep learning curve!
Hi guys
Just an update -camera problems so updating has slowed for a while -but building has not
Working on the main director at the moment, and waiting for delivery of radio control stuff
Learning curve : have now bought a air compressor, spray gun, the paint, practice paint, air brush kit , and every thing but thinners
Going to practice next week, then I hope by months end to have painted the hull - a few minor blemishes to finish.
A lot of slow stuff happening to -getting the hull top finished so the deck will be neat, ect, ect
40 degrees here today -and work shop far too hot to contemplate even.
However, the cool days have been magic, losingh myself building stuff under no pressure to finish, listening to the cricket on the radio.
perfect peace, perfect hobby- the journey is more enjoyable than the finished product at the moment
I am still sticking to the plan of following (mostly) the Nichimo 1/200 kit -that is proceeding nicely too.
I had a good look at the above yamato -brilliant -but I have already decided mine will not be nearly so pristine -i am going for the beaten, weathered look for sure.
Try to upload photos from wifes camera when director finished, and when(if it ever) the R/C gear arrives.
I have gone for a 9 channel job.
Thankyou for the interest with all the postings -I feel humble .
(But I am having fun, and i look at what is done so far, and I feel a certain amount of surprise at times!)

Listening to crickets on the radio? Sounds soothing - must be a nature station. You know, if it's 40 degrees outside and the work shop is too hot maybe you should turn down the furnace.

For DrPR :: Herbie means 40 deg Celsius (104 deg F) and Cricket is not found on a nature station!!
I know You was just being cheeky!!
