Hi Neptune this project is taking shape very nicely . Question and just by way of interest . When an LPG vessel is at sea are there any special steaming lights that identify the vessel as an LPG carrier ? One of the projects I have in mind for the future { as I have all the on board shots} is a Rapucha 1 . But as yet no drawings. Just one of a number of possible projects that I'm considering, including the Ivan Rogov but that's for the future.

My compliments, Neptune, some very fine building.

Thanks for the compliments.
When underway there are no signs of different ships. In port we have either the Bravo flag during the day a red all-round visible light at night to indicate dangerous cargo. That counts for every vessel with dangerous cargo though, also container vessels can carry such signs.
When we are underway we have the regular side lights, masthead and sternlights. Of course Donau has LPG written in big on the compressor room and such compressor room along with size and pipelines also indicate an LPG or chemical carrier.
The Ropucha has been one of my projects in mind too. That was one of the reasons why I have extended the Baltiysk project since I was planning to put the two Nanuchka's together in the bay and the Ropucha on the quay opposite the LCAC landing area. Now however I'm thinking of cutting that part off again, since it will only take more time to finish it and I'm trying to cut on the number or projects.
Today some smaller work on the Osipov. More detailed stuff this time, some engine casing box behind the bridge structure, the winches etc. Then probably some paint work to do.

G'day Dave,
I came across this post on google. I'm hunting around for Ivan Rogov plans to build a 72nd scale hull for a customer. I just can't seem to find any. Do you know if they are available. Allan Pew told me you would be the one to ask about russian ships.
God bless,

Hi Tim Yes a detailed article was published about 5 years ago in MMI on scratch building the Rogov to 1:72 scale .I believe there are a set of "model makers" plans available from Marine Modelling International . I have searched their plans catalog but this model is not quoted. I would suggest you try contacting their plans service . Best of luck with your search .SouthernCrossModels wrote:Dave Wooley wrote:Hi Neptune this project is taking shape very nicely . Question and just by way of interest .
