When I was doing research on the Russian G-5 torpedo boat I stumbled on the BK-1124 tank boat .Having built WWII armor ,I found this interisting .It will be a scratch build except I will cheat and use two T-34 turetts from the Tamiya kit .I am building this boat for the model contest my club will be having in Nov.
This is the Yeysky Patriot an 1124 built by Rechnik Kubani with funds raised by the people of Yeysky Russia .It fought at Izmail and finished in Vien .They were 25.3M long .
Here are a couple of photo's of them in use .
The keel and bulkheads cut from 1/4 inch ply .

Very unusual project . This type of craft is described in great detail in Jurg Meister's book Soviet Warships of the Second World War. Looking forward to more of your build.

Steve Neal made a 1125 a while back .1125's have one turret ,one prop and one rudder .The 1124's have two turrets,two props and two rudders .These boats could carry T-35A,T-28 ,6T-7A turrets also .The T-34 turrets could be the cast or welded types and some carried rocket launchers .
I am making a mould so I will have these hulls available latter .

Yep,, she gets the occassional outing still.
My 1125 has a Tamiya T32 turret and the 1124 has 2 x T28s robbed from Zvezda tanks bought in St Petersburg in 1995!

I have been thinking about using AFV Club's T-34 kit because they have complete interiors .I could have the hatch or hatches open to show the turret interior but the kits are twice the price of the old Tamiya kits .The 1941 version has one large hatch which would show more of the turret detail but the Yeysky Patriot had the late 1942 turretts with the two round hatches ( Mickie Mouse Ears ) .

Yeah, but the Axis forces on the Danube and Dneipr had nothing to touch them, as long as the stayed out of range of the tanks
BTW I put a strip of brass into the stem of all my ships, it helps to keep the shape right during the build and adds damage resistance when my steering capability fails me!

I will try and find the photo because the boat realy was the winner The round went right through both sides without exploding so all they did was beach it .Knowing the Russians they had it operational the next day .

The stern was canted but the frames are straight so the area between the frame and the deck template was filled in with basswood then sanded to the deck template with a 12in disc sander .

Next the hull was covered with dry wall plaster to protect the styrafoam .
The body lines on these plans are to the inside of the plating ( moulded ) so the bulkheads were not reduced to make up for the layers of glass .You can see that the deck template sticks out past the bulkheads ,perfect for glass and plating .
Tommorow I will take a break from the hull and try to turn the 12.7mm machine gun barrels.
This should be fun .At least they did not have the front sight but the flash supresser will be a challenge .

Dusted on my Compact 5 lath .I haven't used it in years since I got my full size on .
I don't have a diagram of the 12.7mg barrel so I had to measure off the plans .
Used a OO center drill .
The brass rod is .156 so it had to be turned down to .117 which is the largest dia.of the barrel.
This is when I ran into problems . The motor started to get hot and slow down so I had to shut it down .Now I will have to take it off and get it fixed so its back to the hull .
