Re: 1/144 admiral sheer s.c. scratch build
blast bags
i have used many differant methods, this is my new attempt,i poured some latex rubber moulding stuff on a flat surface as thin as possible.when it set up it made a very flexable sheet of thin rubber.this is what i used for the bags,i will then paint some white glue on top for a little more contrast...the 11" barrels i cheated as you know there is very little 1/144 stuff around ,so they are 1/200 ,15" warspite barrels from gpm. ,there is just one little step extra in them.the conversion from 1/200 to 1/144 is 1.33. So the 15" barrels come out at 11.2" ,dam close.and the lenght is spot on.

Re: 1/144 admiral sheer s.c. scratch build
thanks for the encouragment guys.it is nice to see a 1/144 scharnhorst being built ,s.c and her share many things, guns, plane, fitting and such.well all the guns exept for the 20 m.m's are finished, the 11" guns have red tops as of apr.1941.this is the year i have picked to depict sheer.all the major upgrades are done except for the realy long funnel top,i prefer the shorter extension.some drawing show s.c having a darker gray hull, but i do not think this is right,i think hull and upper are the same shade of gray.i will have to reseach if the upper decks are a darker gray than the vertical walls.if anyone knows for sure, let me know please. thanks.

Re: 1/144 admiral sheer s.c. scratch build
hello all friends and fellow scratch builders, summer is coming and building will come to a halt untill the fall,to many things to do outside in the good weather.in the few years i have been on this forum there has been a lot more scratch builders showing up and the skill is amazing ,every one keeps getting better and better
.even the first attempts are light years ahead of mine,i think the internet has a lot to do with it,lots of info and help.heres a few pics of s.c .i put all the parts so far on the hull to show where she sits as of now. i will check in every once in a while to keep an eye on all the superb work being done

Russ, I think you are running yourself down, your work looks great, you have to remember we have been at years, you think mine for one is great, but I can tell you when I go to our society meetings I am one of the lowly modellers, so take heart, you improve as you keep building,
look forward to more of your work, thats if im still around.
Simple but effective.
