Yes, the 152/55 OTO mod. 1936 guns were managed indipendently, in a different manner of previuous 152 guns used in "Condottieri" classes of crusers.

Concerning the stripes, Trumpeter was right, on their extension at least. Peguy himself and Giampiero kindly answered to my question and confirmed about the stripes extending to turret II, as shown in the colour profile.

Later, the stripes began to fade away and to be partially painted over in the areas where the deck had undergone repairs: this could be a very interesting painting exercise

Okay guys, Im gonna ask you a huge favor !
When it comes to Italian navy Im a tottal noob(Imperial Japanese Navy and Soviet Navy is my thing), but I really love those WWII era ships.
So can anyone please name me the directors in the following picture (Click the image for bigger copy)?

Black arrow = ?
Yellow arrow = ?
Orange = ?
Blue arrow = ?
Purple arrow = ?

Im guessing the purple arrow points to small AA directors ?

Black: Main fire control
Yellow: Main rangefinder turret (housing two 7.20 m RFs, a coincidence RF and a stereoscopic RF)
Blue: Secondary rangefinder turret (housing a 7.20 m stereoscopic RF; mainly used not for aiming but to keep situation awareness and to spot optimal targets)
Orange, amidship: Secondary armament directors (with two 5 m stereoscopic RFs; directed the 152 mm guns)
Orange, standing next to the bridge: High angle directors (with a 3 m stereoscopic RF; directed the 90 mm guns)
Purple, on the bridge: Lookouts' positions
On aft conning tower (dunno what's the colour ): Reserve RF
Small platform on aft funnel: 37 mm guns directors

Just ordered my Trumpeter 1/70 Roma on line ( eBay, $36 ) and eagerly waiting for it now.

I wonder if any of the earlier PE for the resin 1/700 models would fit, or brass barrels?

Speaking of PE, not much with the kit- may have to settle for the generic 1/700 naval PE set from GMM.

Got the kit and primed everything. One thing though: the HA secondary turrets are pocked with what looks like vastly overscale rivets. I see very faint rivets on the Barbieri model, and none on Jim Baumann's 1/350 model. Since I'm at 1/700 I'm going to sand them off.

Got some GMM PE fretwork to embellish- this will be fun!

According to Regia Marina the new PE set for Trumpeter/Pit-Road's RM Roma in 1/700 will be out in late July.

hi all.

here are some pictures of some items conserved in the Naval Museum of La Spezia.

first is one of the screw of the Vittorio Veneto, conserved in museum's garden.





next, one of the many naval artilleries conserved in the museum, a twin 37mm mount, again coming from the Veneto or the Italia (formerly Littorio)







last, a 37mm single mount, don't know if the same type mounted on Veneto class

Atma, you seemed to have copied and pasted the wrong link. Here is the right one : 1/700 Trumpeter RN Littorio.

It's interesting that Trumpeter appears to be shipping the 1/700 kit with PE parts. I'm also wondering is they are using the same hull mold as the Roma, since the Vittorio Veneto and the Littorio have a different hull shape with less freeboard. I think that I might build the Roma, after I finish the USS Alabama I just ordered. Those Italian battleships are just so damn good looking, especially the Roma with it's re-profiled bow section.
