Re: New book: British Battleships 1919-1945
Well Seaforth did rather well with the French Battleships book by John Jordan, the British Cruisers & British Destroyers books by Norman Friedman have also been very popular so a new British Battleships book makes a great deal on sense. Not seen any mention from Dave Baker regarding a British Battleship book from Norman as the early British cruisers is the next title due, but i wouldn't put it past them to fill the gap with a new book in the series although it could be John Jordan and maybe John Roberts revamping previous British Battleship works into a match for the the recent French Battleships book.
Eitherway i suspect it should be a good book and one for the wishlist

Can this be authenticated? Is RA Burt's third volume on British Battleships coming back into print?G. Shoda wrote:Bro: Its by R.A. Burt. Time to break out the charge card!

Though I see that originally it covered up to 1939...

Well, the new book is not necessarily the same as Burt's 1919-1939 volume.

Well, at least the title is different...
Anyway, these things happen. I only hope he'll print more of his collection of images, particularly those of HMS Hood taken around 1941...

The new title British Battleships 1939-1944 will be a revised edition of R A Burt's book. There will be approximately 60-70 new photographs (focussing on details mainly) and the book is to redesigned. There are no substantial changes to the text or the original illustration. The end date in the title has been changed as we feel they more accurately reflect the contents. Hope that clarifies things.

Congratulations on the Littorio book, I am enjoying it enormously.

Re: New book: British Battleships 1919-1945
Have not yet seen the new edition. The first edition published in 1993, British Battleships 1919-1939 has 414 pages. Seems like the new edition added about 30 pages to cover the World War II period. I've seen the 1st edition selling in the $150 - $200 range, so this new edition may be worth the price. If it copies the original edition, I can highly recommend it, many detailed line drawings for the modeler. But regarding the World War II period it won't be a substitute for the Raven & Roberts book.
