When I voted for a CVE my thoughts are of the USS Commencement Bay CVE-105 class.

It isn't on the list of options, but it gives me an opportunity to pose one of those questions that nag me. One of the ships that seems, year after year, to top the list of the "most wanted" ship models in any scale (how about a 1/200 on this one!) is the U.S.S. Enterprise CV-6. This is perhaps the most iconic warship of World War II, certainly the most iconic U.S. warship of that time. We have kits of Hornet, Lexington and Saratoga, but no Enterprise. Also, she was the only ship of her class to see service from Pearl Harbor to the surrender of the Empire of Japan. Does anybody have any thoughts on why somebody, Trumpeter perhaps, or Tamiya, does not seem to be interested in what I suspect, if it is a decent kit, would fly off the shelves were it released?

Like to see what everybody thinks.

Because Trumpeter messed up their Hornet, so their sales were not stellar, and other manufacturers attributed this poor sales due to the lack of interest in the class of the vessel, rather than on Trumpeter's mistake.

Why the moderators did not include any Soviet Union Navy of WWII in their list?
After all, the country has won the war.

And its important to note that NONE of WWII Soviet navy ships was ever represented by any manufacturer in a decent scale.
And we are not talking of insignificant subjects but some of 24.800 tone displacement.
My vote goes for battleships:
"Marat",
"Oktyabrskaya Revolutsiya",
"Sevastopol".

"Chervona Ukraina",
Russian Imperial Navy battleships "Imperatritsa Yekaterina" ,

I'm not buying "lack of interest". As nearly as I can tell, among 1/350 ship builders, at least in the U.S., CV-6 is something like the Holy Grail. There may be limited interest in the rest of the world, but I can't believe that there isn't sufficient "interest" in a 1/350 injection kit of the most decorated U.S.N. ship of World War 2 to justify production. If there is enough interest to support a new tool release of Gambier Bay or Independence, I'm sure the interest in CV-6 is there.

If you insist to call USS Enterprise by the hull classification code there is never gonna be a 1/350 or 1/700 USS Enterprise in the market.

Atma, nobody is suggesting it be marketed as "CV-6". But on this board it is not uncommon for ships to be referred to by their hull numbers, since in many cases different ships have had the same name. For instance, both CV-6 and CVN-65 have been named "Enterprise". There have been two different World War II destroyers with the name "Laffey". This is simply board shorthand to reduce confusion.

Just joined, hello all! :-)

My main interest is warships pre 1920.

The kits I would like to see in 1/350 plastic are vessels which showed the transit from sail to steam, vessels from all nations. Those launched in the 1860's to 1870's...plenty of subjects, some strange ones too.

I suppose they are very niche...but we can dream. Although some pre-dreadnoughts are making it to plastic...More please!

Oh yeah, one vessel I wish somebody would do , is the Torpedo ram POLYPHEMUS . A very unusual vessel. Again very niche..vurtually unknown to the wider world.

The "County"Class is in effect at least two sub classes.Ideally a Norfolk circa 1941 as she appeared during the hunt for Bismark or in 1943 as dipicted on the hunt for Scharnhorst.Carrer wise one of the most active of the Class.
Alternativey, how about a Cornwall at the time of her demise to the Japanese.
Moving away from the beloved Counties, howabout an Exeter,Battle of the River Plate era!

Quite simply,does anyone recall the old 50's movie of one of the most couragious incidents,post WW11, The Yagtze incident.How about an HMS Amethyst in 1/350th or better still even larger to 1/72nd as per the excellent Flower Class Corvette
