What would be the colors of Fuso and Yamashiro interiors? On some pictures of IJN the interior side of the doors are having a white painted sign and on another model I have seen all in side of the door painted white.
Also the bridge floor color. Any idea?

For the doors, pictures of IJN Ashigara during her visit in late 1930's in Europe, the doors are painted white(in particular some kind of Cream colour).
Dont know if that changed after the start of WWII.

I think that's an American PT boat, from their 1/350 PT line, some of which included a 1/700 version in the box.

The retake version is just the correct shape of the aircraft handling deck at the stern, nothing else is new. A bit disappointed from Aoshima wich does not use the new molded AA guns found on the new IJN Nagato. Also the 1944 IJN Fuso has some faults in the funnel era just behind number 3# turret.
The small vegetable room(box shaped) was removed in 1944.

Dear Boys and Girls, would any of you be able to advise how useful the Japanese magazine Model Art (issue 24) would be for making the Fuso or Yamashiro in their original twin-funnel configuration. Does this magazine contain an actual conversion article and would it be worth my while trying to obtain a copy?

the article on fuso 1915 is 8 page long, with colour and b/w foto of the model 1/700 in various phases of completion, a basic drawing in scale, some sketch of conning tower with the plans of the platform, a sketch of the funnel, with the plans of platform and a sketch of rear conning tower with the plans of all platforms. the text is in japonese and so , for me, very hard. I think can be useful with the four pages of the aos on fuso.
ciao peppe.

Thank you Peppe. Have you attempted the conversion yourself?

According to the November issue of Model Art the following trees are all new to the retake version.

I found the retake version 30% off at the local electronics store so I picked it up. Tried out my scanner to see if it would be better than camera pics of parts trees but it doesn't like anything not touching the glass. Need a better scanner.

Ordered retake version and start to build the superceded version. Surprised at the crispness nevertheless from Aoshima and ignore details, I currently rank their molding above Fujimi releases (which whilst more detailed, found have to do a lot of clean-up/test fitting)

So if the Fuso and Yammie retakes are just different at the stern, there won't be any problems in using the existing Flyhawk PE supersets ?
I am curious mainly about the bridge pieces.

There's any problem at all to use the flyhawk set. If you look at the sprue and instruction pictures from 1999.co.jp, the new parts are the hull pieces - the main superstructure parts are the same.

The old version, Fuso and Yamashiro shared the same hull - which is not right.

In my opinion those retake versions are juts a fail. Both IJN Fuso and IJN Yamashiro from Aoshima in 1/700 lucks the crisp detail of new standards of the 1/700 line, like the new IJN Ise, IJN Nagato class and IJN Kongo from Fujimi.
The retake version of IJN Nagato is better in my opinion than IJN Fuso from Aoshima(still levels behind Fujimi's IJN Nagato class), hoping the 1933 version of IJN Nagato from Aoshima will be followed by a 1910's IJN Fuso/IJN Yamashiro, and it will be on a par with the best Fujimi releases.

As mentioned in the previous post, more detailed yes, crisp, not. For the Hiei I'm building now, I have to chisel injection pin marks underneath half the superstructure parts, some even interferes with glue spots...And every time a 2 halves section is joined, there's a gap at either end of the seam due to rounded edges. No such problems with Fuso thus far.
