Does anyone know what shade of grey the Dreadnought was painted in? I am going to start my Zvezda Dreadnought soon, and I need to know what color paint to purchase preferably in Tamiya acrylics.

I would use humbrol 64 for the hull grey. The nearest Tamiya colour I can find would be xf80 Royal Light Grey although it is a little lighter than the humbrol. Does anyone have any idea how thick the boot stripe should be?

Got my Dreadnought yesterday. It's funny that in the instructions the one colour they have missed out defining is the hull colour. Thanks for answering that question.

I finally found a place that had the Zvezda Dreadnought in stock, and mine is on it's way. I also found a used copy of the Anatomy book, which is also heading my way. So in a few days I'll be set to go. I would have thought there would be more action at the various forums by now. Is everybody waiting for the WEM PE to do anything? This particular period fasinates me more than about any other, I am really looking forward to this project.

Dreadnought arrived today. Now I have to decide, full hull or waterline.

Took the lower hull of mine within hours of getting the kit, eight passes into the V groove with a new blade and DONE
The two halves fit together very well and the main deck to hull fit is exellent.

Does anyone have a feel for how extensive a conversion would be necessary for a Bellerophon class battleship? Historic as the Dreadnought is, the two heavy masts of the Bellerophon class made a much more impressive profile.

The dimensions are almost identical.

You would need to move the foremast forward of the fore funnel and add a second mast forward of the after funnel.

You would need to produce 4" guns instead of the 12 pounders.

That, of course, depends how accurate you want to be James. Dimensions and hull lines were indeed similar but that's where similarities ended. 12 inch turrets can be modified relatively painlessly but porthole positions, arrangement of deck details and superstructure shapes were all different.

Just browsing through the Anatomy book while waiting on White Ensign and I learned something interesting. There is a picture of the Dreadnought cleared for action and it mentions that the mirrors and arc lamps were taken out of the searchlights to prevent damage. Makes sense. In the picture you can see right straight through them, just a hollow cylinder. Something to keep in mind if modeling her that way.

I hadn't thought this through. You are right, there would most likely have been a great number of changes in the minor details. I'd need, at the very least, a very detailed set of plans.
