Its this level of craftsmanship from the masters and pupils that truly set Model Warship.com light years ahead of anyone else.
Ive learned much in the year or so that i hunkered around un-subscribed,..even more while being a member...
Im learning all I can on the 1/350's or larger....but my goodness gracious you guys are saints and more for the amount and level of detail not seen in many larger scale builds...that you routinely add into your builds.........and to think,..this is braille scale that is dwarfed my a match-stick.. My goodness!!

HI, Bill!
I'll be in Telford and really hope to see you. It's been quite some time!!!
Remember to holler, if you are in the Cologne/Duesseldorf/Ruhr - area!
I am glad to see you back on your feet. Remember that modelling is a great means to put you off your stress. So even a half an hour in the evening may do you a world of good! :thumbs_up_1:
Cheers,

Stunning build and such an interesting subject that I have chosen it for my first resin build. Not going to attempt anything like this level of detail but it will make a good step by step guide.
Hope you manage to finish it though. :thumbs_up_1:

Mmmm...

A bit embarrassing... I ended up getting very busy with work last year and was travelling all over the world and it had to take a bit of a 'back seat' for a while... Then when I re-started modelling I decided to get on and do the Hasegawa Mikasa in 350 scale (elsewhere on the WIP section).

I fully intend to get back on to Hood once that has finished (providing I can resist the Dreadnought with Pontosmodel updates... but Roy's work on his waterlined Dreadnought is far too interesting to think I could really postpone it, coupled with the fact that when I met Martin Quinn when I was in New York a month or two ago, we talked about doing another parallel build (we both built the Combrig Tiger a year or two ago and it was a lot of fun bouncing ideas off each other), and he had the 350 Dreadnought too a nd thought it would make a great project to do simultaneously... So who knows.

It's a great little model though, so if there is anything you need to ask, just contact me and I'll see if I can help. You should certainly do a WIP on it though... loads of people will jump in with information and help... and it's not the most documented ship ever... so the more help you get, the easier it will be. :thumbs_up_1:

Hi Biil :wave_1:

Excellent work on this venerable ship.
I'm not a big fan of that time but no way detracts from the quality of execution of your work :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

Ahoi Bill !!! :wave_1:

As I am currently engaged in building a contemporary vessel to your Hood...

see here; ( Mars, Majestic or Magnificent (??!)

viewtopic.php?f=59&t=161114

and I was studiying your build for inspiration....

and...

...knowing you are equally pernickety as I am for the minutia of model-ships.... :wave_1:

I noticed a small error in your striping ....

( fortunately an easy fix )

your painted stripes at the lower edges of the anchor beds are......

IMG_0387.jpg

in fact ( IMHO) actually light reflecting !

( note the same effect at the top of the gun barrels in a similar plane to the sun ...)
HMS_Hood_Royal_Sovereign-class_battleship_of_1890s-1.jpg
So....

some black paint and simply continue the stripe at the top of the anchor beds and you are sorted :thumbs_up_1:

all you need to do now is finish this lovely ship :thumbs_up_1: :thumbs_up_1:

So...!

... out with the tools and herewith you have .....

your New Years resolution for 2016 !

Best wishes

I have been thinking about it!

Seems I have a little more spare time now... Maybe it's time to start again.

I have a few incomplete models to finish and it's hard to know where to start.

I'll have a poke around in my stash this weekend.

Let me know when you are back and we can go for that beer we missed just before Christmas.
