Padfield's "Guns at Sea" - worthwhile reference?

Poking about with Google, I stumbled across Padfield's "Guns at Sea." Beyond the brief description at Padfield's site ("a history of naval gunnery and its effect on tactics"), I've not been able to turn-up much info on the book. Since it is a bit costly to acquire a copy I wonder if anyone here would comment on the contents. My interest pretty precisely aligns with the blurb that I pasted in, so does Padfield achieve what he claims in this description (i.e., relate how tactics were driven/influenced by the evolution of naval guns and fire control)? Does he give a fairly technical and complete evolution of fire control in the British navy? Does Friedman's subsequent publication of "Naval Firepower," make Padfield's book irrelevant? I would really like ot hear what those who have read the book think of it.
