WWII CV/CVE deck stripes?

Does anyone have any tips on painting the deck stripes for 1/700 CV/CVEs? I lost the decals for my 1/700 Bogue kit and want to move forward with the build. Thanks.

1. Paint the deck base color.
2. Cut a piece of masking tape the exact distance between the stripes (about 30mm), and apply along the centerline of the landing area (the outer edges of this piece of tape mark the inside boundaries of the landing area).
3. Place a piece of tape outboard of the first one (along each stripe) leaving an exposed gap of the correct width for the stripes you want (about 1mm, maybe less)
4. Use a ruler to mark off intervals along the tape of the correct length for the dashes on the flight deck stripes (about 3mm). Mark both sides of the landing area, so that the dashes are the same length.
5. Cut a series of strips of tape of that same width (about 3mm) and, beginning at one end, lay them athwartships at the marked intervals, leaving only the small dashes exposed.
6. Give the edges of the tape a good rubbing down with a toothpick (or equivalent) and paint. Use light dusting only -- the lighter color will stand out very well against a dark flight deck stain.

I used this recently for the markings on the 1/700 Hasegawa CV-14 and the results were excellent (see below)

Note that you may wish to use a toned-down color for the stripes, to support a better scale look (for example, use light grey for white stripes.)
