Making duplicate hulls

Post by Cheesecake-Class Cruiser »

What is the best method of making a duplicate hull from a plastic kit?

What casting materials would be best suitable?

At the moment I'm thinking a plasticene or rubber mold with resin poured in, but I have never tried it before.

im not sure what it is but there is a sandy type of material that you fill a box or tub with and then push the hull down into it and it forms the shape of the hull.... maybe someone here knows what im talking about... its rather cheap i believe. it will later harden.

Resin Casting

Go on line and contact Smooth-On. They supply just about everyone with resins and RTV's. They make beginner's sets that have plenty of rubber and resin for most project you are working on. Here is the link to the starter sets, bet deal in town.
