Pics below are from another post I made elsewhere about building Nagato's 127mm, but they are for this build so I thought I should include the pics here in this thread. Thanks to all for your comments and attention.
Next up...finishing that hull with the CAD lines from |-|3LL. Thanks for your time and attention! -Tim
Impressed wow you bet I am, can't wait to see this one up and running, just promise me when its all done and dusted as it were, you'll have some close up shots of those finished guns. Sorry but, haven't seen anything this good in a long while.
Since USN and IJN ships of World War II are my area of interest I'm following your build thread with great interest. You've done some great work on her. I wish I had your patience and skill with PE. From what I've seem you are The Pro From Dover! If you catch that reference I'll know your an old guy like me! LOL. Keep up the great work. I'll be looking forward to your next updates!
Bob
Give me a fast ship, for I would like to get out of harm's way!
HalseysBeard You are a little wrong with the grill. Hasegawa gives plastic part with the blinds, but without the grill. On it had to glue the etched grill. Sorry my English - its Google Translator
yes, that would have been easier than what I did (free-hand bend). Can you please show a top-down pic of your funnel?
btw: you will probably notice a rivet or two out of place in my builds Yuriy, for instance the railings I put on the AA gun tubs weren't actually there on the real ship I don't think...but I don't lose much sleep over things like that

But the funnel is very easy for correcting - the necessary detail is available in a set.
And the big hole in a funnel it is ugly and wrong.
It is"Nagato", it is not "Hood"
Well, now you have me scratching my head. I don't understand...Nagato's funnel was sealed off at the top? I don't understand why a smokestack would be sealed off...was the real ship like that?
and "ugly" is your interpretation, not mine. ie: my sister thinks her poodle is a gorgeous animal but hehe you know what I think yuriy? I think its ugly as sin... but thats my interpretation, not hers
as i tried to tell you before, this is NOT going to be another super-accurate, down-to-the-last-detailed-rivet-in-place copy...thats been done many times and I'm not doing another one
Its highly likely that you, and maybe others, will continue to be disappointed in my build as it goes forward. its the second model I've ever built and surely will not stand up to museum quality projects in comparison. Maybe this board is the wrong place for me to post...
The project looks great! Definitely one of the neatest and crispest PE work I've seen.
I think part of the animosity that you feel is coming from Yuriy is due to the language barrier, which tends to make suggestions and observations more like harsh criticisms and judgements. Remember, we can't see smiles and winks in words!
I think what Yuriy's trying to show is that the top of the funnel consists of diagonal slats - the photo he posted of his build unfortunately makes the slats look like a single solid piece. Perhaps what Yuriy is suggesting is that if it is not too late, maybe you can still try inserting the kit piece with the funnel top slats up through the bottom of the funnel and sit under the funnel top "spider"?
Please keep on posting,
your P/E work is first class, for some one who is only on their second ship,
you are doing a great job.
Remember this is supposed to be a FUN hobby.
Keep up the good work.
Regards
Richard
