I've never had problems with using CA or white glue with fishing line. Make sure the line is not moving at the attachment point while the glue is drying - use one of those alligator-clip arms w/magnifying glass thingies to hold the line taut and still while the glue dries.

Have recently finished my 200 scale Arizona, and for the rigging i used EZ LINE. It was the first time i have used this product
and found it perfect for this model. Can be fixed with CA and it stretches as tight or as loose as you need. It comes in black
and, i think, white. I used black and was very pleased with the final result.

Hi dsk, thanks for the photos of your Arizona, you did a great job. They will come in handy for helping me build mine, something which is taking way too long. Between work and relationship issues, I've not had a lot of incentive to build. Hopefully I'll get back into it over the Christmas break

Hi all , while trying to get my 1916 Arizona right to drawing I think I have found a fix for the Banner 1/350.

the hull assembles too short on height by around 2mm, when measured against the morski and the Chesley dwgs. I think what they have done is instead of adding the flange to the lower half of the hull , they have cut the flange into the lower half thereby loosing around 2mm in height.

I also added putty to the stern so that I will be able to reshape the bottom to get the prop shafts to enter the hull at the correct positions.

I am backdating mine to the mid 30's and I'm looking for plans or photos of the hull plating and the flag bridge. I have Stillwell's book, but I was looking to see if there is any clearer photo's of the flag bridge that anyone knows of. Thanks.

I don't think they had bow hull numbers at the time, and you wouldn't be able to see the stern ones from the angles presented.

Wow! I didn't think the US Navy ships ever went without the bow numbers! Unless they were in drydock. Well, learn something new every day!

Hi Shannon , have a look at this book I picked one up for my 1916-7 version and it's got a lot of great photos in it. It may help you , as for plans I am sure someone here will have something.

A while back I posted that I was helping Ernie Gee in correcting the screws for the Trumpeter 1:200 kit. Ernie makes wonderful lost wax casting upgrade parts for us. Using the photos provided by Tracy I reshaped the screw blades and sent them back to Ernie to do his magic. They are now done and available over at Sprue Brothers and replace the previous version which was simply a brass version of the kit part. If you prefer a more polished look I'm sure you could take them down to your local jewelers and have them run them through their polishing tumbler.

I noticed that Trumpeter missed the raised lettering on the stern and just gave decals. I'm surprised they didn't put them in as extra parts on the sprue. That would have been fun lining up.

The White Ensign set has the lettering I believe, this is quite a good set from what I have seen

Could someone post a list of what changes and corrections would be required to make the Trumpeter 1-200 Arizona accurate for the prewar time period. That way, I don't have to deal with conflicting painting colors for the Arizona in December 1941 at Pearl Harbor.

If you simply delete the radar foundation and restore the fore-topmast, you can then paint her in MS-1 for a controversy-free Sep '41 fit. That way, the gun tubs and other splinter screens can stay in place, minimizing the alterations you are required to do.
