Re: bismarck (painting swastikas on KA wooden deck)
Hi!
On a Ka deck: using an Olfa compass, I cut off a circle on Tamiya 40mm tape. After removing the circle, i used the tape as a mask, and sprayed the circle white with acrylic color. I had no problems with the wooden deck. The swastica is a 1/48 decal.
My model represents the ship when she arrived in Norway, as per the camouflage suggestions at http://www.bismarck-class.dk. At that point there was no red around the swastikas. Should you wish to do a swastika with a red banner, mask the area, paint it all white, then use a circle mask made of tape (as above) to keep the swastika background white, and spray the rest in red. Painting red on white will give you a better color than what you would get if you paint the wooden deck red directly.
HTH,
Anthony

Re: bismarck (painting swastikas on KA wooden deck)
Hi there, this is my first registered post, I've read a couple threads here anyway, so not so new but, however, may have a solution for those swastikas you are talking about if you don't want to use paint. I have access to a professional BIG printer that can print stuff on adhesive materials and have managed to print some 1/350 and 1/700 scale complete deck swastikas for DKM Bismarck. You only need to apply the matte sticker on the deck and cut off the bleeding on the sides and voila! Also have some kriegsflags with swastikas because almost no manufacturer include them in their kit. I can have either 1/350 or 1/700 scale set. One set make one ship.
