For replacement parts, contact the official importer for your country.

Thanks, Doug. Dragon USA is the importer of Fujimi to the US, and as indicated, I've reached out to them. We did start a "Replacement Parts" thread in the FAQ so as to identify the various importers by country.

Can someone help me determine what type of bi-plane Fujimi has included with this kit?

A Mitsubishi 2MR, the very first Mitsubish built airplane. In particular the 2MR4 version.
Some information about this plane:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_2MR
The extra plane that is not used from the kit, is a Mitsubishi 1MF the 1MF5 version.

A nice conversion to a single large funnel, the IJN Amagi in 1/700 by Fujimi. I found those pictures browsing the internet:

And with simple but creative conversion for a late 1920's early 1930's funnel, I will try and fit a IJN Tone funnel or a IJN Mogami class to the number 2# funnel of IJN Amagi. Some green puty and the large single funnel will look as one with the number 2# IJN Amagi's funnel. Or maybe a IJN Takao numbner 1# funnel, cause its smaller than IJN Tone/IJN Mogami's and it will look more "natural".
What you guys think ?

Love the airship!

The flying off platform depicted here is longer than the kit's plastic version. The PE set for this kit is the longer length and includes mounts turret's barrels.

Did these platforms dis-assemble to some degree to allow seprate elevation of the barrels for this turret?

Yeap, most of the time the platform was dis-assembled, cause the airplane was used mostly for experiments to test the feasibility of aircraft launch techniques from a large ship in the open ocean.
And I assume by the time the funnel was converted to a more reliable design, more stable flying off techniques where going to be used, like a catapult or a seaplane, with the appropriate derrick.
The IJN Amagi was not able to recover from the sea a Mitsubishi 2MR, it was only used for testing. It lucks pontoons.

This link is interesting, is the official Hiraga's drawing for IJN Amagi class battlecruiser's funnel rearrangement:
http://rarebook.dl.itc.u-tokyo.ac.jp/hi ... bW9uPSY%3D

You will find a drawing of IJN Amagi class with a single large funnel(like the one in the model in the previous reply), plus some additions in the aft and fore main bridges(mostly directors and a second pair of searchlights at the aft mainmast.). The plan is dated December 1920.
Already, IJN Amagi and IJN Akagi where laid down, so that plan was an improvement of the funnel configuration for the last two IJN Amagi class battlecruisers, wich where laid down in Kobe at the Kawasaki shipyard on 22 November 1921(IJN Atago) and IJN Takao - the last one- one month later at the Mitsubishi shipyard in Nagasaki on 19 December 1921, and was projected to be completed in December 1924.

So there is a possibility, that the last two IJN Amagi class battlecruisers, IJN Atago and IJN Takao will have ended in that configuration - and IJN Amagi and IJN Akagi after they got launced - I suspect they will had converted to that configuration too, maybe after the sea trials.

By the way D-Boy, Fujimi is selling separate the AA, the secondary and the main armament of IJN Amagi:

You know, cannibalizing this(the upcoming IJN Nagato 1933 by Aoshima in 1/700):

offers nice opportunities for a turned back funnel IJN Amagi class battlecruiser.

Agreed. But I'll be so eager just to build her as Nagato that it might take a second or third kit to cannabalise her for parts! Had hoped Nagato would be mine by Chirstmas, but HLJ now reports a January availability.

Very nice find Atma, congrats. Care to share the link where you found the model's pics? Definitely put up some pics when you have your version underway ;)!

Also remember that the Owari (No. 9-12 class) had an almost similar design to the Amagis, so they could have had this funnel as well.

There is a nice book from Kojinsha about all projected battleships and battlecruisers of the 8-8 fleet program, thus including Tosa/Amagi/Kii and No. 13 classes.
http://www.hlj.com/product/KJS81504
It's in japanese of course but it's stuffed with excellent CG renders of all ships and with different design variants (I was particularly impressed by early proposals for No.13 class with quadruple 406 mm turrets!). There are also many good drawings both of the ships and of some equipment like turrets, pagoda masts and rangefinders, mostly in 1/700. I would definitely recommend it to any Amagi/Tosa fan, especially if (like me  ) you're building your long awaited Amagi!

I'm 90% sure it's 12 cm. I'll check on the book tonight at home, and, in case it's not 12cm, I'll let you know.
