I would be interested. The Isuzu kit by Tamiya has many small mistakes. Some of them caused by the fact that Tamiya designed the kit in way that they could produce four ships of the class. Others I do not understand, e.g. the shelters next to the 12,7 cm twins.

Im so excited for the new IJN Isuzu release!!! Any news about a possible new tooling of an IJN Yahagi or Agano? ...or better yet a Noshiro or Sakawa ! The only kits of the Yahagi or Agano are about 10 years old I believe !! And poor Noshiro or Sakawa never really get any attention although there is a beautiful build by Dan k in the gallery

A question concerning light torpedo cruiser Kitakami:

In the instructions of their 1/700 kit, Pit Road note:

According to the recent theory, the TT mounts were not shielded, as molded in the kit.
However, Mr. Tatsu Abe, who was a "Kitakami" crew, adviced that they were.
If you prefer this theory, please use .... (the aftermarket parts for shielded TT mounts)

It's great that they mention this. Now I wonder - they already made this remark in the instructions since they first released the kit in 1999.

Vanguard (http://homepage2.nifty.com/vanguard/intro/main2.htm) writes in his 1999 build of Kitakami:

The fact that the box like shield was attached to the quadrupe Type 92 Model 3 torpedo-tube mount became clear recently. Because the detail of the shield is indistinct so far, I used the parts of torpedo tube incluiding in the kit.

Are there any new informations about this matter?

Nothing new that I'm aware of. There is an overhead photo of Kitakami, Ooi, Kinu and Kuma being bombed by B-24s at Makassar in late Spring, 1943 but, it is too indistinct to tell if any mounts are shielded.

Maybe a dockyard sketch surfaced somewhere.

According to the drawings in Model Art Waterline Special No. 29 in 1941 the torpedo tubes had no shields, whereas in April 1942 they had them.If this is correct you can make a model with and without the shields - depending on the time you want to depict.

If this is true, then maybe the Japanese did not dispose of sufficient shielded TT at the time of conversion. I wonder what the source for this variation of the theory is.

Unfortunately I cannot read Japanese. But the kit and Model Art Waterline Special No. 29 are my newest references on Kitakami - therefore I tend to trust them and I had built Kitakami without shields:

It's entirely possible that material shortages delayed their addition.

However, shielded TT mounts on exposed positions were standard practice since the mid 1930s on DDs and cruisers (Aoba?Furataka classes) so, it would make sense that these were shielded.

One more question - I have three 4-stackers by Aoshima on - or near - my workbench, as well.

Sendai in 1933
Jintsu in 1942
Naka in 1943

Which greys would be the most appropriate?

Sendai 1933 is going to be hard to pin down. I suggest you review their TROMS, Peter:
