Ok, Work on the Roosevelt has begun, got the closed hangar bay doors opened, will be using the Trumpy 1/700 scale kit as a loose guide, will use the great builds of Kelly and Ryan as main references.

You want to have a good look at Cyrus Tans Lincoln WIP pics. They show the island mods really well. Not to mention his hanger detailing.
Also, the 700 kits dont show the different forward starboard weapons platform (The same as on the Vinson) which was changed on the Lincoln onwards. It's not a major alteration but details details.

Got an update on my projects:

HMS Illustrious- on temporary hold. I might get some PE railings to make it look better. Airfix kits in original form look like toys. Anyone else agree?

USS Enterprise CVN- 80% assembled. Painting will commence soon. I am going to order the Starfighter Decals set sometime next month when painting is almost done. I DO NOT want to paint the deck lines after my experience with my 1/720 Enterprise. I had to repaint the deck I'd say, 5 times, all becaues of either smears or mistakes.

I'm getting supplies to build Midway and Ranger when I make my next trip to Home Depot. That's the only place where I can find the foam I am going to use to carve the hulls out of.

USS Excalibur- A what-if 'mega-carrier, mobile airstrip' design. In 1/350 the ship will be about 80 inches long.

I know, the next ones I am mentioning is not a carrier. But, still, it's a cool project.

USS Montana- Building it according to Scheme 8 design, the 1050' type. I'm going to use two Tamiya New Jersey kits to make it.

USS Alaska- Most likely going to use the YMW kit and modernize it. That project is on hold until next year.

Finally, a word of warning to all: Do not buy the Cyberhobby Yorktown kit unless you like a project where major rebuilding is something you enjoy. I actually only got it to see if it might work for my previously proposed "John Rodgers Class" CA-CVE. The hull is just perfect to fit a flight deck onto. Not sure if I want to make it a Hornet carrier or a Harrier Carrier.
