Did anyone notice on the new Yamato kit, the holes marked with an M as optional locations for parts. Could a new Musashi be in the works too?

Re: Calling all IJN Yamato & Musashi fans
When looking at the main deck part there are indications for the as-launched secondary mid-ship turrets. The same holes are there as where the fore and aft turrets go. The kit gives you optional deck edge parts with holes to be drilled for different versions. Lots of detail in this model.

Yes, this is for IJN Musashi or IJN Yamato as build options. As I said earlier in this thread, nothing is officialy announced by Tamiya and all depends how well the new re-tooled IJN Yamato will sell in the Japanese market.
In the next two months we will know for sure.

Re: Calling all IJN Yamato & Musashi fans
Hello folks, this is my first post.
I am a huge fan of the IJN Yamato, I actually just built a Tamiya kit 1/350 based in a hypothetical situation, the London Mayor orders one to be built in the River Thames because he suddenly become fearful of China's economic expansion and most unfortunately, destroys half of London's riverbank landmarks in the process.
http://architectofdesign.com/Yamato.html
I made the metal cog machine myself, and it has a dissected and rematerialised old Naval Architecture book wound around it, so when you turn the cog handle, you receive instructions on how to build a ship...unintended dry humor from the desperate Mayor when placed next to the Yamato, as you already are aware!
When I see the models created by you chaps however...crikey, there is a lot to learn!
Leave a comment on my page if your feeling kind, as I would interested to receive your comments on my attempt!
Nice to join you.
(For the record, I think Boris is a good mayor!)

Fukuya's 15,5 cm brass barreles for the new IJN Yamato by Tamiya in 1/350 is out:

I have tested the brass barrels on the new retooled IJN Yamato and they fit perfect, also way better that the plastic ones.

Re: Calling all IJN Yamato & Musashi fans
Can be used also in a 1/350 IJN Oyodo, or early war IJN Yamato/IJN Musashi or in pre-war IJN Mogami class(even thought you need more than one bag for the IJN Yamato/IJN Musashi and IJN Mogami pre-war).
Of course they can be used on the old tool 1/350 IJN Yamato I think... Need to test it first cause the blast bags are different.

Hi all,
A friend is considering purchasing the 1/350 Tamiya Musashi. Any advice, hints or tips? Also is it a good model?

Jimjam, are you talking about this one?
I get the feeling that some of the later pictures in the film look like heavily modified photos of models.

Re: Calling all IJN Yamato & Musashi fans
They ALL look like photos of small models if you freeze frame and look carefully.
Each photo has multiple tell-tale signs - too many to go into right now.
The "old worn photo" look is added to hide this fact. The worst thing is that on Youtube this maroon can remove your comments, so he can keep misleading visitors without us being able to fire back. Despicable skunk.
(BTW I have over 50 Japanese books and photo magazines on Yamato and Musashi, published all the way to the present. If those photos were real and discovered in 2003 they would be all over those books. They are not.)
