I'm a few years late, as I only recently found & joined up with this terrific sight!
If you're still looking for 1/50 figures, and are desperate, check out the 1/48 scale military figures by TAMIYA. Go to www.tamiya.com, click on ON-LINE CATALOG. Then, choose 1/48 accessories, and you will fine several sets of German, American and British soldiers and officers in combat dress. (no Russians!) BUT, many of these figures are in non-combat positions, Some are looking through binoculars! These kits have separate arms, heads and sometimes legs, so you can depict him doing a certain job, or just standing around. With some creative painting, you just may be able put some crew members on your ship. (These kits also have many other 1/48 scale accessories, like tables, wood crates, firearms, steel barrels, etc. They sell for about $14-$18, and any decent hobby shop (if there are any left!) may carry it, or order it for you. FREE TIME certainly could.

Recently, I finally got out my old AURORA tanks, which are 1/48th scale, and am building a couple of dioramas. These Tamiya kits are perfect additions for greater detail and story-telling. Great detail in the molds, very little flash!

Hope you check back often! Good luck!

Talk to "HOLDEN8702" on Shapeways. He has several different crew sets available in his expanding product line. Just ask him to scale them in 1/50 or 1/48 or whichever scale you like.

EDIT: wow, talk about necroposting. This thread smells like death warmed-over. :dead:
