I'm in the planning stages of my 1/350 Roma build. Are there any books I should be on the lookout for? Any good plans available? Considering picking up the warship pictorial because it's cheap and I enjoyed their North Carolina and New Mexico books. Also, is there a website like Navrod or Navsource for the RM?

The Classic Warship book is indeed a great reference material, but the bible for the Vittorio Veneto class book is that:

I would recommend the Trumpeter upgrade kit for the Roma along with the Warship Pictorial book.They are working for me.

Ya got any PE railings in the stash?There are a few railings the Roma had,but are not included in the upgrade kit.

hi there! could somebody help me figure out what is the real height of RM Roma hull from top to lowest point including underwater part? sorry if something wrong, i'm a noobie here.

Secondo, aha, thanks, so as i calculated the main deck crown varies from littorio/vittorio veneto to impero/roma in 1,5 or so meters. impero/roma height reaches 19,5 +-50cm meters, and vittorio veneto/littorio about 18,1 m. am i right?

bought the rails from BFM and the Littorio Class BB book. Very excited to start this build. Could use some 1/350 plans or at least a blown up 1/350 image of the Roma's camouflage. I've yet to figure out how to resize images with a computer to the appropriate scale. Anyone have advice?

Side note: Really need to finish the Ryurik II before I jump into this large project. I know it'll take me MONTHS to complete....

Resizing an image:

(1) Print the image as-is.

(2) measure length ( say bow to stern ) of image.

(3) same measurement on kit

(4) assuming image length is less than kit length, divide kit length by image length.

(5) say kit length is 150 pct. of image, print image at 150 pct.

I'm six weeks in and nowhere near finished.Ya can't beat a pic of the real thing for replicating camo.

You can do it without printing out the image, actually. If you have MS Paint, open the image with it. Then go to Image -> Attributes. Under Units, select Cm or Inches. That tells you the dimensions of the image as it will print out from your computer if printing at 100% size. Now that you know how big the image will be when you print it out, do the math for figuring out how much you have to reduce or enlarge the image in order to fit the model. Then go to Image -> Stretch/Skew and enter the appropriate percentage for reduction/enlargement. Then just print at 100% (do not scale to fit paper or any of those options).

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm going to try scanning in the Trumpeter color sheet and resizing it with Paint. I have photoshop on my PC as well, but I think that it would be easier with paint. I've always opted for gator masks but I have so much excess sticky paper that I want to try doing it myself for once. Honestly can't wait for the book to come. More reference is always better.

Not to double post, but is the Profile Morskie for the Littorio of any use for Roma? I know that there were several subtle and drastic changes to the Roma as a result of experiences with the first two Littorio class ships. Should I pick up that book as well?

Littorio had a different bow and bridge, and many of the details such as the portholes' scheme had to be different as well, as Roma was fitted as fleet flagship. But if you're just looking for some reference on the armament and other fittings that were common to the whole class (floatplanes, motor launches, cable reels, winches and so on), you could indeed pick it up.

We're having some trouble in getting answers from them (I'm trying to help another member in ordering the plans he wants) but they should be fully operational soon, at least I hope...

Be advised that those plans are the non-plus-ultra that you could find, 23 1/100 scale sheets plus a CD, and the price shall reflect it. If you want something more reasonable, they have 1/200 plans for Littorio
