Painting the deck

Post by mrwawa »

Hello

For some reason I am sure this topic has been discussed many many times. and I did search on this forum. however there it's no generic method of painting. It seems when this question pop, it is always address to specific ship.

anyhow, this is my first attempt to paint a 1/700 "realistic" wood deck. prior to this I just brushed the deck with deck tan and little black wash here and little high light there. with what ever manufacture paint i have.

so.. here are my though, please inject any advice.. or correct me

1. spray deck with WEM IJN deck tan. enamel (1 paint : 2 thinner)
2. dark wash with Taimya Burnt Sienna / Red Brown Acrylic (1 paint : 4 thinner)
3. masking the deck with small strip of tape, in the size of respect model scale. spray light coat of Tamiya Buff Acrylic
4. another light brush (dry brush) WEM IJN deck tan.. Enamel

thank

MrWawa :)
