BMK...metal barrels....excellent...affordable and I own 16" and 5"
B&B...metal barrels....dont own any
MASTER MODELS...metal barrels...dont own any

ARTWOK and KA have been reported as having issues staying down. No first hand knowlege.
Scaledeck and Pontos look like the better choice. I have Scaledeck and plan to order Pontos on another build.
BMK, B&B, MM guns all very good own sets of each and would recommend.

To fasten the Scaledeck's product to my Missouri, I initially used "Pressure Sensitive Adhesive", a liquid product sold by MicroMark. It was water-based so I first sealed the backside of the decking with some Testor's lacquer so the water wouldn't warp the wood. You apply the adhesive to both surfaces, let them dry so they're tacky and then stick them together. It worked...sort of. In a couple of days I noticed it was starting to lift up in various places so I ended up reinforcing the edges and where there were penetrations with CA. This plus the additional of other plastic parts has secured the deck well. Part of the problem was gluing it to the textured decks of the model. Those wood plank lines, not being recessed, greatly reduce the actual gluing surface. If I were to do this again, I might find another method, maybe even resorting to sanding off the raised plank lines to a) get a level surface, and b) giving some surface roughness for the adhesive to stick to.

You might try Gator Glue. That's what I use and have never had a problem. Coat the wood and deck then press and hold. The glue has some flex to it even after cure, so it will hold better no matter the ambient conditions. You can read more about it on John�s website at scaledeck.com

Finally took a close look at your build. Looks real good. Nice and neat. Are the railings PE? They dont look like it to me. Really like the way they look. If I can say one thing and I'm not belittling your build is that the "blue" color is a little too blue...now it could be lighting or even the photo but looks way too blue to me....did u build out of the box? One more thing i thought you flooded your house to take the pictures but realized you were at a pool...thats pretty cool...............

I Love both the New Jersey 1980's refit, and the World War 2 USS Missouri.

Which one should I buy, I really have no personal preference, but I don't know:

The one with all the guns
Or
The one with the more advanced stuff...

I don't know, can someone please voice their opinion in the matter and why.

I built the New J for someone else and the two MOs for myself. I just like the details on the older version. It's not just the guns, but all the complexity, the directors, etc. The new configurations are so clean. Missile boxes hide everything. The main guns have been simplified with the optical rangefinders removed from turret #1. The only think I like more about the new ones is the newer search radars and their support structure. Even the catapults were cool on the older one.

I'm at the final stages of the build with the rigging and installing the main rail. The 5 inch guns, the catapults and a few of the remaining 20mms are waiting until I install the main rails since they stick out over the edge and will get whacked. If something can get whacked, I will find a way to whack it.

I started the build last May, and expect to be completed in a month or so.

When talking about the real things, I much prefer the modernized 1980s Iowas, because without all the clutter of AA guns, catapults, cranes, etc., it really makes them look sleeker and shows off their lines better. And I appreciated how the changes didn't make them look Frankenstein-y; they didn't seem like 1940s ships with a few modern parts bolted on. The old and the new all blended together really well.

But when talking about models, all that "clutter" actually makes for a more visually interesting finished product, especially if you're using a lot of the super-detailed aftermarket parts.

Just my own two cents...

This looks to be the Missouri in 1945, after she returned from the pacific. It is captioned incorrectly. It appears to clear up the camo measure she wore when she returned to the States.
