I have no intention of denigrating WEMs colourcoats paints but the best products in the world are of no use if they are never available. Over a month ago I bought Academy's excellent H.M.S Warspite and found that, of the 5 colourcoats paints I required, three were "out of stock" and they were the major hull colours! I wound up painting the model "by guess and by God" in what I thought were the nearest Humbrol equivalents by looking at the paints chips on my monitor (never a good state of affairs).
I have now finished this model and am contemplating a Tamiya 1/350 P.O.W to represent K.G.V during the Bismark action only to find on checking the website that the Overall AP507B and anti fouling red are still out of stock!
This leads me to my main point. As any of you who (like me) occaisionally do the odd A.F.V might know, a gentleman called Mike Starmer has produced a comprehensive list of WWII A.F.V colours with full instructions on how to mix them using Humbrol/Revell paints (his work has since been expanded by others to include mixes using Tamiya acrylics) and I am desparate to know has anybody done such a thing for Naval colours that I can feel comfortable has been properly researched and colour matched and if so, who and were can I find it?

You can always buy the Snyder & Short paint chip sets and mix and match using your own favorite paint line. The S&S paint chip sets pre-date Colourcoats and were developed for precisely that reason:

There's one for Vallejo acrylics, but I don't know one for other paints:

I hate to have to say this because it's going to seem as if I am anti WEM which I am not but, having ordered the first paint chip set two days ago, I have just recieved an email telling me that this is also out of stock. Just my luck huh!

Both ebay and ordering direct sound like good ideas, thank you very much. I have never ordered anything from outside the U.K over the net before and am consequently a little wary so I shall try the ebay option first and then order direct if all else fails.
Thanks for the tips.
