Wind class US coatsguard ice breakers

Hi,

Does anyone know the colours and scheme used on the Southwind and Eastwind USCG ice breakers during World War 2 ?

The colors of Ms. 16 were used though. Also, I have yet to personally find overhead shots of them wearing this to confirm the deck pattern. Ships operating in the extreme northern/polar regions wore the light colors of Ms. 16 but that scheme called for solid Deck Blue on all the horizontal surfaces and never a pattern. Anyone know if the decks were solid or patterned?

Don't forget the J2F Grumman "Duck" they carried at that time. I just read a story in a wartime issue of the predecessor to All Hands magazine, about the capture of a German weather station on Greenland. The planes were definitely used.

We had a bowrider as our first boat. I noticed that blast of wind in the walk through to the bow like you. I had a canvas cover made for it when I had the bow cover made. It worked really well when we would cruise across lake Tahoe. What was nice was that it is not that big and easy to store and take out when needed. We could leave the bow cover at the dock and just take that small flap instead.
