I don't know about relationship between Trumpeter and Fujimi. I had heard that Fujimi kits are "made in Japan" but another rumor says they are ordering tools China and only injecting in Japan. In any case I don't believe that Trumpeter and Fujimi has common design template between their kit designers, although some "business partnership" between sales managers would be existing.

BTW, I vote Academy Warspite stern as far as comparing AOTS.

Firstly I scanned 1/150 scale stern structure drawing of AOTS Warspite (p. 64) and reduced it to 1/347.5 scale size (for Trumpeter QE) and 1/354.45 scale (for Academy Warspite). Then I print it and compared with each kit.

Perhaps attached pictures are telling themselves than any depiction. Though not perfect Academy Warspite is better of the two.

Despite of these shortcomings, I agree you that we have nice opportunity to build two QE Class battleships from kit. I hope our discussion will be feed back to their kit design someday

I was aking about the possible connection between Trumpeter and Fujimi - design wise because of the similarities of the hull construction between the Hasegawa Akagi and the Fujimi Kongo. I have noticed this similarity between several Japanese manufactured kits and it made me think - dangerous I know , he he he

Hi Jay,I found the mistake whilst building 1/128 scale RC boat using profile morskie plans of Queen Elizabeth,I've just done the forward superstructure when i saw the pictures in the book i mentioned earlier. The air was a bit colourfull i can tell you
But i had to modify it just because i knew about it!crazy or what?Just as well i did when i was sailing QE in our local lake a guy come across to me and said thats queen elizabeth,I served on her during the war-thats the first model i've seen thats got the flag deck right!
To rectify the mistake will be a pain in 1/350 the deck is very thin unless WEM or Gold Medal have the modification when they bring out Photo etch

Just add to this discussion regarding the extension to QE`s flag deck.I`ve been closely looking at an excellent Hi-Res Photo of HMS Valiant from the time after she had the catapult etc removed,and it clearly shows that she did not have this extension to the flag deck ,and the Trumpy kit will be correct for the Valiant ,but not the QE.
I will posted this photo (Sent by Mr Roger Torgeson,Thanks Roger!!)as soon as I can get it on Snailbucket,which has worked heres the pic:

Guys, thank you for interesting discussion. I haven't noticed error on signal deck of Trumpy QE till I read this discussion.

Signal deck of Trumpy QE is right for her 1941 appearance with attractive (and very troublesome for us modellers ) camouflage pattern.

Also interesting is that she retains stern walk on her stern at this date.

Perhaps many of commercially available QE drawing for 1943 appearance (including Profile Morskie condorman994 mentioned) would be based on plans of 1941. It seems that 1/700 HP resin QE is also showing incorrect shape for 1943 and these would be reasons of error of trumpeter QE.

I myself have a fancy for her 1941 appearance. We can avoid correction of signal deck instead taking effort for more complex 1941 camouflage pattern

Assumption of colours from monochrome photos are very difficult but still enjoyable work.

Hi Phil , that looks like an amazing build , HMS Valliant is a worthy alternative to modifying the QE , certainly worth consideration .

I'm waiting for them to get their finger out and release the ww2 fits in 1/700.

I'd love to see the Barham, but I think I may end up buying the QE 1918 kit and starting from there.
