The clips are from the Japanese CGI films about Yamato's Final Battle and Yamato at the Battle of Leyte Gulf.

I uploaded them to Youtube and you can view them here:

Anyway, Fujimi is releasing a limited IJN Yamato with the IJN Akagi in the same box in 1/700, this release is of limited run.
Hi all, is it already known which of the Fujimi Yamato versions will be included in this pack? No details yet at http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10185779 or elsewhere.

And BTW - are there any expectations about a TOTAL NEW MOLD 1/700 Yamato (from Fujimi or others) in the near future? One would think that the time may be coming for the most well-known IJN warship, and considering the recent 1/350 Tamiya release...

I haven't signed into this thread in nearly 3 years since my modeling interests have been else where. Is the Anatomy of the Ship volume on Yamato still considered a valid reference, or has it become outdated? I remember being told by a guy at Hobbytown a few years ago that most of it is now considered to be in error.

An early war IJN Yamato by Fujimi.

Not all, it has a few critical error like th shape of the AA platforms in the turrets for the 1944 and 1945 period an some position of the light is wrong. Still a good reference for an early war build but in general it needs some re-writing.

Thanks for that information. The new 1/350 kit I believe represents the ship in April of 1945. I don't have one yet. I have both the original Tamiya 1/350 Yamato and Musashi kits, and don't want them to go to waste. I would like to bash them together to make a Lyete Gulf Yamato, or even an as built December 1941 version. Any recommendations? Also, how do the hull details on the old 1/350 kit compare to the new kit? It would be nice if they looked consistent with each other.

Looking over some drawings in the Anatomy of the Ship volume on Yamato, it looks as if Tamiya's 1/350 Musashi kit out of the box will give a 1944 version of the Yamato. Am I dreaming?

Hey guys, does anyone know what all lifeboats were carryed on Yamato during op. Ten-go? I know they got rid of most of them but I also know they did keep a few. Anyone know what life bouts were left behind and which boats were kept for Ten-go?

Everything I have read states that she carried NO boats into her final battle.
