Beautiful work! Thanks for posting this - it cleared up some misconceptions I had about the ship.

What software do you use, and how long have you been working on this project? Where did you get plans for the ship?

The software I use includes AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, 3dsmax with brazil renderer. I did try some other tools, but still those three is the ideal combination for me.

It is very hard to say for sure how much time I have spent on the project since I did it bit by bit during my off-work time. Roughly I would say, 300 hours more to reach this stage. In fact, quite some time was spent on understanding the structure since there are still a lot of details missing from even the most detailed drawings I can have.

About the drawings, the best publically available one is "Anatomy of ships, Dreadnought" by John Roberts. Very detail and accurate. High recommded on the topic. There are some other books, which contains good reference photos. "British Battleships of WWI" by R. A. Burt is the one I recommend. The old version is hard to find, but the new one is coming soon.

Fantastic model Max, I've always liked the Dreadnought, it's just such a classic warship.

That's a wide variety of CAD programs you've used, but it definitely seems to work for you.

Breathtaking work.

By coincidence I have been reading on my iPad Robert Massie's bestselling book of a few years ago, "Dreadnought." The Kindle version was just issued in late June. http://www.amazon.com/Dreadnought-ebook/dp/B0089EHK70. It is a long history of the politics and personalities of the era that culminated in the construction of the Dreadnought. Great summer reading.
