Pontosmodel 1/350 USS Essex Class AC Detail Up Sets

If you're taking requests, how about doing one of your full on super sets like these for the Hasegawa 1/350 Akagi? I've been waiting too long for the WEM vapourware set.

At least we would not release Akagi set by next year. Already fulled next year schedule...

Will the LHD set be one set, or two different sets to account for the differences between the Wasp kit and the Iwo Jima kit? Nimitz is next to LHD.
Though LHD will be released 8 types from LHD1 to LHD8, but surely the Wasp and Iwo Jima will be the first and second.

Yep if there is not Hasegawa's set we should have done this within this year.
Lexington, Saratoga or Hornet (yep also CVLs) also may be good for market.
But basic kits of these are too old and researched too badly...

Admiral Sheer is a possible project for us because we had researched fully Graf Spee some years ago.

I would like to see a Lexington and Saratoga sets. They are very nice kits and in many ways better than the Essex models. I agree that the Hornet set would take too much to fix, you just can't get around that hull being completely incorrect. The Essex models have hull problems, too, but no where near as bad as the Hornet.

Sorry but WEM's set for Nagato is an improvement over the Hasegawa sets. I have no doubt that Pontos efforts would be an serious improvement over Hasegawa's Akagi detail sets. Not to mention that the Wasp kits are already well represented aftermarket wise from both WEM and KA Models that I can think of and maybe more, and frankly I can't wait to see what Pontos will come up with.

Dragon CVL's would be very welcome. Especially if Dragon decides to release another boxing. If Kim chooses to do these, hopefully they'll talk to Tracy White.

Correct the Hornet? Good luck with that. The Trumpeter Hornet hull is COMPLETELY WRONG pretty much from bow to stern. Unless a correction set replaces the entire thing, its just good money after bad, no matter how pretty and amazing Pontos' efforts are. That needs a new kit, period. Hopefully who ever does one gets it right and is smart enough to do early and late war Enterprise as well. (you reading this Dragon?)

Something else that could use the Pontos touch; Trumpeter's San Francisco. Or Trumpy's Arleigh Burke class (each boxing, 6 in total, are different from each other) because I find the WEM set ill suited to the kit especially since the WEM set was designed for the Panda kit and especially especially compared to the out of production Lion Roar set for these ships(which are quite excellent detail sets for these kits), or the Trumpy/Monochrome Akizuki's kits, Fine Mold's Fubuki's, a set designed specifically for Tamiya's Kagero class since most others were intended for the over-scale Hasegawa kit. I love to see Pontos work their magic on the Dragon Gearing, Gleaves/Benson even though details already exist for those models. I know Tamiya's Enterprise has aftermarket up the whazoo, but doesn't make you wonder what could Pontos pull off with that kit? I know I am.

In short, Pontos details sets seem like a new evolution in our hobby and I'll encourage whatever set they decide to engineer next. Some of the stuff they've done so far isn't my cup of tea, but it's easy to see how fantastic they are. I look forward to each new release.

Hornet may not come in near future(Of course if Dragon or Tamiya make Yorktown Class, I am sure we will release these sets within 2months)
San Francisco may come
Arleigh Burke class, Gearing, Gleaves/Benson.... these are too easy work...

In conclusion, Waitng something, Meeting anything at last in Pontos schedule.

Must say that I seriously doubt that a new set for the Akagi would be worth producing. The Hasegawa sets for the Akagi are expensive, but quite good. To improve on them would probably be a tough job, and I doubt that it would be a big seller. Most of the hardcore Akagi fans has probably already invested in the Hasegawa sets.
When it come to the Nagato, it is possible that the WEM set is superior, but the Hasegawa sets pretty good. Combined with aftermarket AA from Veteran and some etch stairs it is quite nice. But sure, the WEM set might be better value for your money.
I usually prefere the producers etch if available, since in my experience they fit better. Usually I use a larger percentage of the etch when buying the kit producers own etch. Especially when the other aftermarket sets usually contain lots of etched small caliber AA guns. For the IJN ships, its a waste of brass. Either the Veteran or Fine Molds AA are so much better that they make most etch AA guns completely obsolete.

Most of us are fully aware of the faults of the Hornet. But if any kit needs a complete facelift, it is that kit. I would probably be satisfied with a new injection or resin hull, and an update similar to the Essex set.

The problem with that is once you correct the hull the flare out is off which means that section of the hangar bulkheads are off. The island is also full of inaccuracies as well. There has been a lot of detailed information on what is wrong with the kit. See the CASF CV-8 thread. Those are just the major ones. A new hull won't fix the issue. We need a new kit. Hey Dragon, we need some Yorktowns!

I don't know if it was mentioned somewhen again, but when the Lion Roar set for the Hood in 1:350 disappeared there were no aftermarket sets for detailling the Hood.
So my question is if the Hood is also planned?

Been avoiding buying a Mikasa (I stick to WWII IJN, USN and post-war everything), But with one of your detail sets, I may have to cave in.

I have yet to start the kit yet, so I will reserve judgement until then. But so far, so good and I am very much looking forward to using it.

With such a busy schedule and with your self imposed / published deadlines, please do not rush to get things out and thereby skimp on quality. High quality is the thing that can distinguish you for all of the other model detailing companies out there.

Yep I hope you have a happy time with our first project, Warspite set during your wrok.
Now for the KGV Class we have some problems in gathering information and references for more perfect set.

And thank you for your care for our hard schedule.
It is surely hard one to release over 10 projects in one year.
But our team has been joined amd enforced newly with designing and producing Staffs for better products so I am sure we will do these with better conditions than until now.
As I mentioned above, the only one thing I concirn is how we can get plenty of information or references for new projets in coming for more perfect sets. We always need your helps.

Now for the KGV Class we have some problems in gathering information and references for more perfect set.

I am hoping that it will be possible to make the KGV at the time of the sinking of the Bismarck with this Pontosmodel update (probably using the PoW kit).

With a Revell 1/350 Bismarck in my stash, it looks like I will be buying my second and third Pontosmodel detail sets fairly soon. I can`t wait if they are as good as the Warspite set.
