USS Peleliu LHA 5 Superstructure
Just found these picture in my storage that I took of the USS Peleliu in 1991 when I was in the Marines and assigend to her as part of the 15th MEU. I took the picture of the supply ship pulling into Subic Bay when we were part of Operation Fiery Vigil, a humanitarian mission in The Phillippines when Mount Punatubo errupted. I have no idea what ship it is. I'm still loooking for a picture during the same day that I took of the USS Midway CV-41 as she was pulling out of Subic Bay.

I am sure that what you have there is USNS Sirius (T-AFS-8) ex RFA Lyness (A-339) or USNS Spica (T-AFS-9) ex RFA Tarbatness (A-345) both were transferred to the USN around 1980/81, i know it was before the Falklands war as we could have used them during that. i did many UNREPS with both during my time in the RN.

I can tell by the smoke stack that the picture is of the USNS SPICA T-AFS 9. I am the 1st US Navy person to check aboard the USNS SIRIUS T-AFS 8 back in January 1981.
