Nope, no radar whatsoever. These are simple metal strips used to hinge the night signaling devices (lamps).

Thanks Olaf, I don't recall anyone ever asking about those before. Looks like Navweaps need an update.

1/200 photoetch and gun barrels for bismarck.
Just remembered that there is a GPM photoetch set for Bismarck in 1/200 for their own cardmodel kit.
Gun barrels are awailable too.

Re: Calling all DKM Bismarck & Tirpitz fans
I'm not really "in the know" about the Bismarck and am wanting to build Trumpeter's new monster. I'm hearing there are quite a few innacuracies to the kit and was wondering if anyone could tell me what they are so I can get an idea on what it would take to fix them...

Re: Calling all DKM Bismarck & Tirpitz fans
While I haven't taken a real good look at the model yet, one of the things that seems to be missing is the collar rings/holders for the bow anchors. Which I am really disappointed with because the bow's one of my favorite parts of the ship. I thought this was something that was fixed with the release of Revell's bismarck, but I guess not... Here's some photos to show what I'm talking about.Channell wrote:I'm not really "in the know" about the Bismarck and am wanting to build Trumpeter's new monster. No sign of them in the instruction sheet?

Where are the anchors on the wreck? Were these lost in the sinking are cut loose before the final battle to improve buoyancy forward? Thanks.

Re: Calling all DKM Bismarck & Tirpitz fans
My kit's still in the mail, should be here by the weekend, but I was going off what photos people have been uploading. Whats funny is after I saw they were missing in the photos, I looked up the Trumpy 1/350 Prinz Eugen, and they are missing on her too. It's really not all that difficult to scratch build some, just more of a PITA than anything, but you have to wonder what Trumpeter thinks kept the anchors from just sliding around on deck and guided the chains...Olaf Held wrote:No sign of them in the instruction sheet?

Yup, such as the unplanked anchor cable tracks plus the open bridge areas and their ever-wrong deck covers...BobaFettSlave_1 wrote:It's the little things.

Thanks! My 1/200 Bismarck shipped yesterday. I want to fix the errors and need to learn a boatload of facts about a ship I know nothing about.Olaf Held wrote:Yup, such as the unplanked anchor cable tracks plus the open bridge areas and their ever-wrong deck covers...BobaFettSlave_1 wrote:It's the little things.![]()

Re: Calling all DKM Bismarck & Tirpitz fans
Hello
I made a composition with Bismarck and Tirpitz bows.
Red is the tirpitz bow from "Pancerniki tipu Bismarck. EOW 15 and EOW 16 E.T. Prusinowska, M. Skwiot"
Blue is Bismarck bow from "Bismarck Monografie Morskie 1. M.Skwiot A. Jarski"
What do you think about it?
Regards

Who said Bismarck is NOT blue?
You should compare official plans, not second-source plans from different creators (the difference in height of the boot-topping is irritating, how can we trust the rest of the ship(s) is correctly depicted?).
Now, even if your comparison is correct, the most notable thing at scale 200 would be the different location of the anchor rests. On the other hand, I would have bet that the shape of the TP stem was much more different in side profile...
Other thoughts?
Happy comparing ~ Olaf!

Of course, Olaf! I could be very happy if I could have the originals plans.Olaf Held wrote:Who said Bismarck is NOT blue?![]()

Manuel,
send me an e-mail and I will be more than happy to provide you with a scan of Bismarck's bow from an original plan.

Re: Calling all DKM Bismarck & Tirpitz fans
Hi!
Blue and red are both wrong.
Both Bs and Tp were designed with a straight stem, it remained the same up to the CWL after the changes.
Bismarcks bow then went over into a single curve ending at frame 248, it was cut back to frame 247.5 to accommodate the reserve anchor. Hence overall length 250.5 m.
Tp differed from Bs thru a straight stem above the CWL connected by a circular arc to the stem below CWL. Also Tp had a constructional fault resulting in a raising flat keel by about 150 mm towards the bow.
Bye,
Bernd.

thanks

Re: Calling all DKM Bismarck & Tirpitz fans
The pattern seems not complicated enough.
Furthermore, there is a series of famous photos with parts of the gratings removed, showing dark grey painted steel deck. I believe this is the reason why model builders leave them just out there.
Happy modelling ~ Olaf!
