Russ, I know the Chapters in Vancouver have subscriptions for Model Boats, but I don't know about in Campbell River.

bcreese wrote:Hi Dave, I have been following your build in model boat with great interest and so I decided to buy this semi kit from fleetscale and start my own build. I also wanted to build it because my company is a sub contract precision machinists for BAE systems and we made many components for the type 45. My question is, I would love to know where you get all the great photos of the type 45's to help you?
The photos are taken by myself and it's part of the on going work for the Model Boats magazine. For over 20 years I have been fortunate to be given access to RN and vessel of other navies as part of that arrangement. Best of luck with the build of your 45 .

Hi Russ Youre not the first to be confused. Just to explain. As you may well be aware I work for the magazine Model Boats. From time to time I full fill as part of that arrangement a full build over an extended period for the magazine as directed by the editor. Daring is part of that agreement. At present this forms the centre of focus for the work undertaken and will remain so until completion. That does not of course confine me to one single project as you may have seen progress, if not slow and preparatory is on-going with a project of my own . The Kashtan is just one small item from that new project I managed to slot in. Also as part of my work with the magazine I take in visits to events , museums and other interesting assignments all of course related in some way to model making and ships and occasionally if there is time a book but thats another string as they say . In one way or another I have been involved with the Model Boats magazine for over 40years. When I first started I had a dark room and developed and printed all my own contact prints for the magazine then it was the only method available.
If it helps the magazine is available in Canada as it is in the US by going to :- expsmag@expressmag.com hope this goes some way in answering your question and thanks for taking interest.
