New book on French inter-war period

Post by Guest »

Yesterday I received new book edited by French publisher Editions Lela Press "Les Croiseurs de 10 000TW Tom 2 Foch et Dupleix", by
Gerard Garier. As all books of Publisher devoted to ships of Marine Nationale the book is worth every Euro cent spend in spite of quite
high price (55Euro)
It consists about 250 pages with tons of informations both technical and historical and illustrated with more than 300 pics (pitty that
not too big) plus folded yard plans, some in colour.
Highly recommended!!!!!

Yes, I can also recommend that book: nice drawings and photos also very useful for those, who cannot read French.

Now only a 1/700 kit is lacking!

Can you recommend a good book on French destroyers of WW1? (and a source). I can not read French but two of my sons are fluent in it so I can get them to translate.

Do you search material about the First World War destroyers?

I can only recall an article about the 800 t destroyers (Le contre-torpilleurs de 800 tonnes) in Marines & Forces Navales, Hors-srie N 2, Janvier 2011. It contains photos and drawings of Catapulte/Bombarde of the Arquebuse and of Enseigne Gabolde. Here is a review about this issue in German.

Some additional drawings you can find here:
http://www.servicehistorique.sga.defens ... tebato.php

Search for "Contre-torpilleur" and "Torpilleur".

For the destroyer classes of the Second World War many books in French are available plus several articles in English- to my knowledge books about all classes were released.

I have a model of the Emden and I would like to build one of the Mosquet. I knew about the web site with the plans but I didn't know about the magazine. It sounds as if it is exactly what I am looking for.
thanks

Mosquet was a destroyer of the Arquebuse class. I have checked again Marine Magazine: the "Le contre-torpilleurs de 800 tonnes" was published in following volumes of this journal:
http://www.marines-editions.fr/marine-m ... M65-53.cfm
http://www.marines-editions.fr/marine-m ... M65-54.cfm
http://www.marines-editions.fr/marine-m ... M65-55.cfm
http://www.marines-editions.fr/marine-m ... M65-56.cfm
http://www.marines-editions.fr/marine-m ... M65-57.cfm
http://www.marines-editions.fr/marine-m ... M65-58.cfm
http://www.marines-editions.fr/hors-ser ... ,10007.cfm

I do not have all these volumes, therefore I cannot comment on which of these would be really useful to built Mosquet.
