model HMS Amethyst for sale in shop @ Porsmout Dockyard UK

Post by JIM BAUMANN »

On a visit to Portsmouth Dockyard saw this fine larger scale model for sale in the bookshop @ the entrance to the Dockyard

HMS Amethysts is of course the vessel featured in the film 'Yangtze incident'
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HMS_Amethyst_%28F116%29

The model is pretty sharp -- and could be useful for people building their models thereof....

Best wishes

Yes! Haha, it was in the middle of the room when I visited it in October - I entered the shop even though it wasn't quite open for business yet, the door being unlocked.

Hi, you may be interested to know that we are about to Auction on Friday 16th August 2013, several superb dockyard models of: -

A superb Dockyard Model of Motor Vessel "Elmworth" built by Archd. McMillan & Son Ltd. Dumbarton for the Dalgliesh Steam Shipping Co. Ltd. Newcastle (160cm long)

plus

A large scale model of HMS Sheffield D80 with other associated items. The model is only one part of a number of items from the third HMS Sheffield, others include the bell from the Chief Petty Officers Mess, bell plans, a large collection of photographs of the ship and her crew, memorabilia including a cased 'Yard Of Ale', and the blue 'Shiny Sheff' flag which she flew whenever returning to Hull on her home visits to 'Sheffield'.

You can see images of these lots on our website via this link - http://www.sheffieldauctiongallery.com/ ... review.htm

We have also written a press release on HMS Sheffield D80 - http://www.sheffieldauctiongallery.com/ ... leases.htm

If anyone is interested, please don't hesitate to get in touch. This auction (like most of ours) will be live on the internet, which means that anyone can register to bid on-line in real time via the comfort of their own home or office, without being here in Sheffield in person. You can do this on http://www.the-saleroom.com

I hope this is of interest - if not, sorry to have wasted anyone's tims.

Kind regards
