1:192 USS Missouri modern configuration

Some of my reworking of deck02.
This time I uncluded that passageway @midships.
The Trumpeter 700 scale 1991 Missouri does not show that.

Pit-Road is a Japanese company. They share some kits with Trumpeter.

See attached picture indicating the ECM housing. New Jersey has a very different one due to her Vietnam modifications that none of the other sisters received:

From what I can glean there is a passageway under the superstructure but it is enclosed. What shows on the plans is an expansion joint to avoid stressing the superstructure when the ship works in a seaway. You probably have it about right, very narrow.

The "round balls" located above the ship conning station (08 level) and fwd of the aft stack were apparently for communication with the drones. They are not currently on the museum ship.

The middle of the passageway has two doors with little alcoves.
I figured the passage way is about 3 feet wide for a person to walk through?
.200 thousandths wide on the model.

HSNA has compartment plans of one of the sister ships available. The cross passageway here is a regular internal passageway with wt doors at each end. Onboard the ship one can see this expansion joint on the deck on the next level, just a guess it is maybe 3-4 inches wide?

Not the greatest photo as the area you are interested in is in the shadows, but there is a W/T door just a bit back and not an open passage where you are looking just aft of the position of the removed 5"38 mount. The second photo shows the top of the expansion joint on the next deck, which has some sort of flexible cover.

Of course I found out my superstructure was screwed up here, needing some surgery. I hate having to get the saw out and rework things. Good to have some of these areas become more clear! Great site, much info and cross pollinations.

After researching about your question, I found that part of my build in error and had to rip some structure out. More accurate now. Geeze I thought I took enough photos, but if and when I get back there next mont I will take a bunch more!

Even though I had "mistakes" on past models the model still looked believable.

Artists do not paint every telephone pole and wire in a painting.

Quite so! Right now I am going around parts of the superstructure and adding a lot of the what one might call clutter to the bulkheads etc from areas that I have photos of. Of course finding much that I do not have photos of! The basic structure goes together fairly rapidly but the detai, especially if it is almost all scratch built, takes a long time! I like the nominal 1:200 scale but there are not as many commercial bits and pieces as might make things more convenient as with some scale in which many kits are available.

Amazing to see many of these scratch projects proceed from the chainsaw to the micro tweezers stages.

Check your 02 level abeam the aft edge of the aft stack. Most of the cutout here should only be on the 03 level. This area was the location of the aft pair of 5" mounts and the handling rooms structure remained.
