My take, given their close proximity to the aircraft recognition panel, that they are smoked glass.

It's a square of dark glass on a wooden handle for use by lookouts and anyone else on the bridge.

But I wouldn't have expected such a quantity of them. Did they come in differentstrengths?

Aye, that's them. While it's possible that they are a more basic design than yours, I had my own doubts as the handles are too long and there being so many.

I can't think of anything else that could be on a bridge? It can't be the janitors prize collection of mops and brooms!

Are they anything to do with the awning?

I'd like to built the Trumpeter 1/700 HMS Queen Elizabeth 1918 in the condition she served during the Gallipoli Campaign in 1915 in. Is there an aftermarket set that enables me to do so, or otherwise, what modifications do I have to make?

I'm afraid that, as far as I know, there is no set to make the necessary changes, which I described in a post last year (25 March) on this thread. Parts for the sternwalk can be found on a White Ensign Models photoetch sheet (WEM PE762).

It's such a shame none of the Queen Elizabeths were saved. If there was ever a battleship worthy of it, it was one of these.

Warspite was England's CV-6 Enterprise. Both ships had long and gallant careers, several times took a lickin' but kept on tickin', and they were the sort of ships worthy of a berth next to HMS Victory or the USS Constitution. Unfortunately people were too short-sighted after the end of WW2 to give a abut preserving anything related to a war they'd rather forget. Instead England scrapped all of their battleships and the USA didn't think to save any carriers until the modernized Essex class were retired. I'm just glad that we saved at least a few of the battlewagons on this side of the pond.

Of course I can understand, that there are or better to say were several ships which people want to have been saved as monument like USS Texas is for example. Personally I find it as half German guy a shame that Germany wasn't some decades ago (around 1965 or so) interested to take over and save old WW-1 SMS Goeben from Turkey, which offered them to buy for a few DM.
On the other hand I have also some understanding that ships were not saved, because you have to take a look on the total situation of the time where the question "saving or scrapping?" was given. Most ships had a special history of war in background, but the money (and desire, as interesting) to save them all was not existing!
At Warspite I see another special background too. Sure, she fought heroic in 2 Wars and has a great history, no doubts, but after she was hit by the Fritz X bombs, she was nearly scrap and after D-Day taken out of service out of this reason. So to save her as monument like HMS Belfast or so, it will have cost a lot of money to repair her first ... money what Great Britain simply didn't have at this time! On the other hand, there were other QE classes, which could be saved cheap.

I got the 1/700 Trumpy Queen Elizabeth 1918. Being a US battleship guy I don't know what color gray to get. I am Acrylic paint guy and use Lifecolor for most of my painting. I will say this kit has tweaked in interest in British ships. I don't really mix my paint, I just try to stay away from that and this build in OOB.

Really really disappointing the Trumpeter's 1915 HMS Warspite. Its their 1918 HMS Queen Elizabeth reboxed with a name plate for HMS Warspite, no way that kit is a 1915 HMS Warspite, the kit dosnt offer the difference between HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Warspite, and its not even a 1915 HMS Queen Elizabeth, as it got the late war style searchlight towers around the funnel and no extra Antiship guns on the deck.

Last weekend doubts were expressed about my use of white in my build of the QE 1941,well heres a pic I uploaded from a RN HMS Queen Elizabeth website,that sure looks like a lot of white to me!!

Hi Phil I believe that white blur near the bow are draft markings, they can be clearly seen in other reproductions of that photo(British Battleships of WWII) I believe that white was used but even though it looks too light not to be white it could not have been so. I have no idea what color is there.

It certainly is not; look at the crop of a nice IWM showing the real white of the draughts marks on a light grey background.

what about the propellers in this class of battleships ?

I see that propellers in academy's warspite 1/350 kit, they look somewhat "triangular", and also are the G-factor ones.
Propellers from queen elizabeth from Trumpy are more "classical round shaped".

so ? is the shape from academy the right one ?

Hi Atma,
I have to say a big thank you about. To be honest, during my Sevastopol build I thought about a scratch build of Trumpeters 1/350 kit into a WW-1 version by using the 1/700 kit as base for "what is all to do" etc. Well .... after your warning here and some further investigation then, I put my idea into the greve yard of silly plans.
