Starting a commission build for a modern IKE. Got started on some of the numerous changes/additions to be made starting with the island sponson adding the RHIB deck.

Oh Yea, I'm followin' this one.
I'd like to have the guts to chop into a kit like this.

Work has resumed on the IKE. I've removed all molded on nets and catwalks. The deck pieces have been glued using the technique Ryan used on his Reagan. Tomorrow I will start addressing the hull mods.

gotta shoot some primer on there to see some details! But good job, looks like you nailed the basic shape of that sponson, which is one of the more complex ones on these CVN's.

There I was looking at your tho LHD-s, asking you about this beauty, without realizing you are actually documenting this build too. I have no idea why you were worried about building those sponsons: You freakin' NAILED IT!!!!!! Looks very sharp, and probably even more straight than mine! Very nice work so on the whole project. You are one busy beaver. Do you even have to go to work or talk to people and friends at all? Do you ever -I dunno- sleep, eat and all that jazz?
Well, you are going to have one handsome looking fleet, man!
LOL, no I have a normal family life. Just a few hours a day in the shop. You really helped me out by posting those dimensions. As soon as my styrene order arrives, it's time to start the hangar bays.
IKE lives!! Back in production. Small updates to catch up on current status. I rebuilt the port bow weapons sponson, this one looks better but not perfect by any means. Was close to painting the hull, so I thought, but after looking at it after 6 months of mothball status, it didn't measure up to my current standard.

Very nice, looks like you nailed the aft sponson. Port bow sponson construction looks very familiar...
Is that RAM from veteran? I have not even looked at my RAMs from them yet, but maybe it is just the picture, but it does not really look to be up to veteran's normal detail level???
