I found a couple of pics and somehow detailed the two gun tubs, they are not 100% accurate , a little of imagination was used:








And one more thing, can the brass propeller of G-Factor model for the USS North Carolina fit the New Jersey?

From the drawings I have the NC props are about 14 ft in diameter and the outboard Iowa ones about 18 ft. The NC props would be a bit undersized if both in 1:350.

So that's a no go then... Are there any other possibilities to resolve the propeller issue? The tamiya ones are aweful

The exact prop diameters per specs are Iowa outboard 18' 3", inboard 17'. NC outboard 16' 7.5", inboard 15' 4". Respective differences, outboard 1' 7.5", inboard 1' 8".

Might be ok in 1:350, will let you know if I see something closer.

I see that they list all the WWII USN fast battleship props under the Same part number, not the ideal solution!

For the 1:192 scale one can order ones of the proper hand, blade count and diameter, at a fair price.... About four times what your 1:350 set costs.

hmm...they seems nice...The differences in 350 scale are 1.4mm, it's not a lot but it's still smaller. I've PM-ed Keith, maybe he can help...

An interesting discussion of prismatic coefficent and the design of the Iowa's. The reason the US ships had different hull forms than their European counterparts.

I am planning on building a 1:350 USS Wisconsin (1991).

I *just* ordered the Pontos upgrade set ( which looks amazing).....

I was hoping someone here could tell me what color gray to use for the ship. I plan on using a airbrush, and would like to use enamels. Preferably Model Masters, or White Ensign Models.

I know this has been asked before but I could not find it and don't have time at the moment to search all 65 pages to find my answer, I'm currently building 3 IOWA's in 700 scale, they are the modern version of the ships, I know that IOWA and MISSOURI carried numbers 61, and 63 respectively atop of turret 1, now did NEW JERSEY and WISCONSIN carry these as well?, I have not been able to locate reference pictures of turret one topside to verify this, I don't want to put them there if it is incorrect.
I also know that IOWA carried the flag on top of turret 1, and moved the 61 on top of turret 2, were any other paint sceams done on the other turrets of the other three ships?
Any help with this is GREATLY appreachated!!!!!

The ships carried differing paint schemes at varying times during their most recent activation. For instance Missouri had dark rather than white bow hull numbers during the gulf war deployment and deck blue on top of the secondary mounts, which she does not have today. Because I am hand planking the decks, I chose a period during which she had an all non skid fantail.

The Iowa only had the "61" on the top of Turret 1 during the 1950s, with an American flag on the top of Turret 2. She was reactivated in 1984, and had the flag painted on the top of Turret 1 sometime during 1985. Never had the "61" on Turret 2.

BB-62 and -64 never had anything on the tops of theirs.

Thanks for the information I was looking for, I thought I had seen the IOWA with 61 on top of turret two, but I could have been mistaken. Now I can finish the turrets, I was holding off on them until I got the information I was looking for.

Atttached are photographs of the 40mm gun tubs on USS Iowa. Note the starboard tub is sparse, with the exception of tiedown loops for the fuel bladder. The port side has more detail, fittings for the JP5 line and the JP5 hose real.
