Very nice! Man, all you guys getting to work on these LHDs really has me chomping at the bitt to FINALLY get to start one of mine! Color me jealous.

Thanks. Although I do need to remove that sparrow launcher and rebuild it a bit better.

Your island is looking great!!
That PE sure sucks the time out of the clock doesn't it. I felt like it took forever to get it all on.
Your CWIS and RAM look real.

Thanks Mark. The PE process does take time but it's worth it in the end. What I hate more is rigging. Not sure my ships will be rigged. My Nimitz rigging looked horrible so I removed it.Bigdaddy Mark wrote:James

Your killing it! Fantastic job on the PE.
What did you use on the windows? They look perfect, and you did them neat as a pin.

Thanks Mark. PE is slow go stuff. Especially the kit stuff you have to measure out yourself. I did add a couple ladders/rails from leftover NIMITZ PE. I used a Crayola color pencil on the windows. I love the reflective look it gives them.

Re: 1/350 USS Bonhomme Richard LHD-6 and USS WASP LHD-1
Thanks guys. I really hate rigging so I do bare minimum just so I can say I did it. I use 20 den caenis line which is thinner than hair, hard to work with, hard to see, but, it looks more realistic.
Change of plan for LHD-6. Originally I planned to build these OOB. The WASP is OOB with the exception of the LED lighting and two leftover ladders from a Nimitz set. However, I just can't resist using the KA Iwo Jima set on the Bonhomme Richard as much as I can.

I was impressed with the KA PE.
They etch the railings where you need to bend them.
This was the first time I ever used PE like this.
These made bending around the radomes a breeze.
I think I got them at Hobby Lobby, and I use them a lot.

Can't wait to see how nice the KA set is for the Iwo.

Your fleet is growing at lightning speed! Nice job so far!!! I was hoping you'd go beyond OOB with both of them.
One little thing: did you paint the island with glossy paint?
Keep up the good work, James!
Cheers: Laci

Thanks Laci! I gave the whole ship a coat of future for decal application and oil weathering. The island has her flat coat now.anyahajobuzi wrote:Your fleet is growing at lightning speed! Nice job so far!!! I was hoping you'd go beyond OOB with both of them.
