Instruction sheets for CSS Hunley kit

Post by Rusty White »

I am currently working a 1/72 scale CSS Hunley model kit to go into production in about three weeks. I have been working on the old Lone Star Models kit to bring it up to date with the most current information known about the Hunley incorporating new parts, 3D computer illustrated instructions and photo etch technology. I finally finished the instruction sheets for the kit and I thought I would share them with you guys. They were drawn using DesignCad 3D v-21. Feedback is always welcome. Check out our web site for the latest on this great new kit http://www.flagshipmodels.com/zencart/

Fascinating model, Rusty. Never knew they had a pair of snorkels on the CSS Hunley.

Yes, unfortunately they did not work as intended, which is probably the reason the crew perished from Co2 poisoning. All those guys underwater working hard to get away just put out too much Co2 for the tiny snorkels to replace with oxygen.

Yikes.

I have been reading this book about the CSS Hunley:

http://www.amazon.com/The-H-L-Hunley-Co ... fin+hunley

It is understated and low key. The author researched it from primary sources rather than just paraphrase the many other books written about the Hunley.

Great subject for the model, especially with the new data from the recovered sub.
